So...I have a couple of straights that could use a honing from someone that knows what they are doing. 1 Has been shaved with, by me, on several occasions with reasonable results...until last night when it "skipped" and gave me a decent little dinger behind my ear. The other is a truly dull square point I picked up in a local antique shop that I would like to send out for a quality edge.

The one that dinged me could be salvaged with a stropping, possibly. I wil see when a strop arrives. The other one is beyond my current crop of stones to make shave-ready.

So...who do you all recommend? I don;t mind paying for a service, I just don;t want to pay a lot for a razor that will need a lot of work when it comes back to me.

So you more experienced fellows...help a brother out! Where do I send my razor(s) to be honed? Who has great prices for great work and reasonable turn around times?

Thanks in advance!

Two people come to mind off the top of my head. One would be Anthony Esposito. If you're on Instagram, he is @thestallion10. If you DM him on there, he'll give you his email to discuss. He's an expert with straight razors. You've probably seen some of his videos, there are ones of him honing. The other person is a member here, Fair_to_middlin, proprietor of the Canadian Blade Co. I believe he offers honing services as well. Granted, I have zero experience with str8s so I can't recommend anyone in particular based on that, but those are 2 that I know of. Good luck!

Thanks, everyone, for the replies. Anthony Esposito has been recommended in several places by several people, and I will likely contact him for honing at one point or another, and I will also likely be doing business with Fair_to_middlin at a point in the near future(I like some of those vintage blades you have!).

As it is, a very generous member here has offered to hone my blades for me for merely the cost of shipping them to him, and return shipping, and for this first go-round, I'm going to take him up on that offer.

I won't publicize his name here, because it was a private offer, and out of respect for that privacy, I will maintain it. I would hate to publicize his name and have him suddenly be inundated with requests for free honing services.

I do thank everyone for taking the time to make offers and suggestions. It is very much appreciated!

I'm glad you found somebody to do it for you! Enjoy the shave! And I appreciate the compliments on my razors. I will have a couple more up in a few weeks Smile
