Yes razor arrived safely but 2 days later than expected but I had to leave my house earlier so had to shave late night as I often do. I originally planned to shave Thursday morning before leaving for work but while trying to figure out how to get it to lower settings with blade in place, I accidentally cut my finger on the left hand with moderate bleeding which alum and liquid bandage were unable to stop so I had to use Band aid but the one I had was not holding well so I had to run to CVS to get the new ones so by the time I got it under control I just had enough time to warm my food  make tea and coffee and run out of my home. At work I got stuck on double so when I got home at 10am I went straight to bed and spent there whole day so had no chance to shave. Only late Saturday evening I finally got a chance to try the Taiga
First of all it looks well made and while on heavy side it is well balanced. But if you want an easy to use 3 piece adjustable it is not the case it has way more parts and weird adjusting system and all the settings mixed up because instead of going from expected setting 1, or the lowest possible setting to setting 6 or slightly above with highest setting it goes from lowest possible blade gap to the highest blade gap where there are noticeable gap between what's usually called baseplate and the adjustment plate so I just set for the smallest blade gap and started shaving using Astra SS blue blade which was used once in the Rex Ambassador. Since I more than 3 days of growth instead of usual 36 hours it took much more time than usual but I still got smooth irritation fee shave. I want to try a few more blades before shipping it to the next person but I can't recommend this razor to anyone who is looking for hustle free experience and would recommend Rex Ambassador instead. It is nice to have ability to change baseplate and handle but adjustment system should be as simple as Rex Ambassador and and Parker Variant is or at least clear instructions should be made
Yes it is prototype but I doubt adjustment system will be changed in the final version

The adjustment mechanism is very similar to Gibbs. It is very easy to reset dial. You just need to remove the dial.
And put back when the dot is over 1, and tight it. That is all.

I actually like to be able to disassemble easily, since I can easily clean it.
I got a razor lot, one of the razor was Rex M4. When I removed adjustment plate (not easily), I can see some corrosion between the adjustment plate and the base plate, due to lack of sufficient cleaning. IMO, the corrosion was also caused by plate to plate contact which can be called as pack-rust or crevice corrosion.

The Taiga is on its way to me next and I have my Rocnel Sailor 2019 LE so I will be able to compare the 2. Should be very interesting!

A lot of us assumed the same thing with the REX
And now some people are saying they found out
That the REX is not an all Stainless Steel razor
But which parts are not stainless, seems to be
A well guarded secret or at least the info is not

Where is there any statement saying the Ambassodor is not all Stainless steel, the website specifically says it is made with marine grade SS. Comments like this without any back up are what spread false rumors, if you have proof please show it.

The Sailor has a lot of blade overhang and a
Floppy NON-RIGID Blade clamping design and the
Taiga is the exact opposite, judging from the
Photos

This is a false and misleading statement.

The Ambassador is 100% stainless steel.

However the first two production batches in 2017 (m3 and m4) featured a zinc plated steel spring that was sandwiched in between the guard and blade tray and performed the adjustment mechanism.

We heard complaints of oxidation forming from this zinc plated carbon steel spring. So anyone that contacted us was instructed to send it to us for the new Stainless Steel spring that went into all razors starting in 2018.

We paid shipping both ways and performed the swap at no charge of course because we guarantee the razor for life.

There are less than a few hundred of these early Ambassador razors on the market now. There are thousands more of the 2018 and later models.

If anyone has any worries about their razor we are happy to help with it. Another great reason we did serial numbers is so we could track and notate changes made in our production and note any service records on individual razors that have come back to us for work.

Hopefully that clears up this issue.

Thanks,

Matt

This is why a site that allows vender posting is actually useful to clarify any issues and eliminate any misconceptions. Thank you Matt

I agree! It makes me want to use DFS exclusively, and for other reasons as well.

I own a new 2019 Sailor and I am trying to figure out where you got the idea that there is a lot of Blade overhang and a Floppy Non-Rigid Blade clamping design??!! Really?! This thing is a tank and the blade has no play in the razor at all. I also own a Rex and have taken it completely apart and all I have seen is stainless steel parts. Very interesting statements that are completely untrue.
