I own the Taiga and Start razors. The Hummingbird is a nicer built razor than the Start. Nicer handle, thinner head and better polished finish. I tried all baseplates and my favorite was the 1.30. I prefer more aggression yet smoothness. The 1.50 was too aggressive and if not careful you can easily cut yourself. 1.50 had too much blade feel and was not smooth. OC were ok but usually I prefer SB. The .80 was smoother but not efficient enough for me as I shave every 3 days. Would I purchase a Hummingbird? Answer is no. The Start 1.18 was smoother and just as efficient. The Taiga along with my Sailor are my favorite adjustables. So the Hummingbird doesn't add anything to my collection. But for the quality and price it is a nice razor to own

Hello everyone, today I received the package from rawfox1 so thank you to him for safely packaging it. It will get disinfected tonight and I will update the thread with a post soon. I will shave with it soon but I am curious if anyone has blades they were thinking of using with the Hummingbird? I'm thinking of using a Gillette Nacet with a one of the medium/aggressive plates. If someone lower on the list knows what they want to try I would like to hear. Chat soon DFS friends

Hey everyone, I had my first shave with the Homelike Shaving razor for our pass around. The shave was recorded on video but somehow it didn't save so my apologies. I intend to video again in 2-3 days. Anyways, I will try to be as thorough as possible in what I can share about the shave earlier. The razor comes in a nice package that have the foam cutouts for the various parts available to assemble.

The weight to a completely assembled razor carry's some weight. I thing it feels hefty and solid but some of the concentration of weight is toward the top of the handle. To my hands it wasn't too heavy or unbalanced, but it was top heavy in comparison to what I can pick up and shave since I primarily use a long aluminum handle. The handle was successful in todays shave because it was comfortable to hold and it made the head maneuverable on the face. I thought "knurling" or grooves in the handle are functional and I feel it. Somehow it works but it seems as if its a horizontal cut rather than a vertical look that I think I see more often. I could be wrong but nonetheless, I like the handle.

Here was my shave setup, shower, facial scrub, no preshave oil, Ethos Mélange dágrumes, 3 band badger, Homelike Shave 1.30 closed comb base plate, Red Personna Super Platinum Chrome (1), Post Shave Mango and Kokum Butter

The first pass I did a with the grain and the angle seemed easy to find so I am happy it was intuitive. I was cutting two days of visible beard growth and it was efficient enough to remove it comfortably. I got a second pass across the grain on my face and on my neck I did a second pass against the grain. I would say the level of comfort and closeness feeling my face now in the evening is about an 8 or 9 out of 10. My skin is very nick prone and I did have a good bit of some little brief weepers but I had very little razor burn. That is much easier for me to get so if I can avoid razor burn, I can live with the nicks.

During the shave, I think I got a bit more confident with how the blade rigidity felt. I think it held well and that is why the razor cut so well. I'm pretty happy with how easily it shaved so I am happy again if anyone is curious about a certain plate to try if they want to see a video review. I did receive another pass around of a couple of straight razors so I want to try and get at least two, maybe 3 more shaves but I will make sure I ship within the appropriate time window.

Homelikeshaving Thank you for providing the tester razor for us to try and thank you GlazedBoker for putting together the pass around. It was a cruising shave today and looking forward to another one soon. Cheers
