That's a fine start, Shawn.  You are absolutely correct about the lighter touch but that should come easier than you might think.  Also, remember, the more fountain pen friendly the writing paper, the better the result.  

Freddy is absolutely correct - paper is just as important as the pen.  If you try to write on just plain copy paper or some note pads it will likely look bad and you get frustrated with the pen.
