I would like to acquire one (RAD may follow)  vintage DE razor without thoroughly researching the field. (Honestly, this apparently lazy request is quite contrary to my obsessive compulsive history of endless research prior to an acquisition.)  Hoping you fine folks here would lend your extensive expertise and generosity in helping to kickstart my newest shaving hobby interest.

A few parameters which I think may help:
1. Lowest profile head depth, the lower the better.
2. Mild to mild+. (I favor The Winning Razor and Karve Overlander in moderns.)
3. Heavier weight.
4. SB.
5. Condition: Pristine or revamped.
6. Could be adjustable, subject to #1, above.
7. Budget? No, but depends on meeting above criteria.
8. Have I forgotten anything?

Which brands/models come closest? Are there better and worse places to be searching? What are the hidden pitfalls?

Thanks for reading and helping if you can

Gillette Flat Bottom Tech with "Fat" handle.

Smooth and efficient, only minus is that it is slightly on the lighter side as it has a hollow handle. Easy to find good examples on eBay.

I wouldn't say they are easy to find on ebay, at least here in the states but they are a good choice. Here's one but be careful as some I see now are listed "Flat Bottom" and ae standard Tech razors.

As the OP, I allowed this thread to wither. Reason? It took me longer than expected to identify a few vintage razors which were in optimal condition and priced as to allow them to be treated as experimental.

First up, a Schick Krona in near-perfect condition. Preliminary shaves have yielded mediocre results: far too many strokes to achieve barely acceptable shaves. (My regular razors are mild, but much, much more efficient than these shaves provided.) I'll patiently attempt to vary the blades to determine the fate of this razor.

Second item, ordered today, is a Gillette Post-war Ballend Tech in gold plate.

If not a single edge I would say this is my best Vintage DE Razor. Smooth and efficient is it's middle name. Gillette Executive Set -  Point 7 did say - NO budget Big Grin
