Do I need a new tin or does anyone else get a “pencil” scent?

I bought a tin a couple years ago and the scent when opened new was vetiver. After the first lathering the scent transformed into a lite peanut smell and I ended up selling it. Probably just me. Mike's soaps do have a noticeable clay smell that may be interacting with the scent components.

I just ordered a tub of Shannon's Soaps Haymarket Vetiver as I read good things about their soap base and the scent of this one. I hope it's a dandy! Smile

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

No pencil scent, for me, as well. When I used to have it, it was a straight-forward and clean vetiver scent.

I have Haymarket Vetiver. This thread prompted me to use this morning.

The scent is what I think vetiver should be. The citrus element is subtle though I'd rather it was absent completely.
The lather would benefit from having a bit more glide.

As far as vetiver soaps, it's a keeper for me.

I've been looking for a nice vetiver scented soap, though not actively. Haymarket Vetiver sounds nice and is well reviewed so I bought the last one stocked at Maggard.  Big Grin

Therein lies the rub: many different ideas out there as to what constitutes a real or great vetiver scent, not unlike sandalwood for that matter.

Here's an interesting take on vetiver:

Thanks for that. Read the whole thread. Excellent stuff. I own several reviewed - with Creed OV, and TF Grey are my favorites. FM V Extraordinaire is potent.
