For me, this soap is easily one of the top scents - I don't get the greatest performance, but I would live with that because I love the scent. My problem is that my face burns from this, which brings me to my question.

What soap out there is a good scent match for this one? Obviously, I am hoping to find something that smells just like it and doesn't irritate my face. Is Crowne & Crane Cognac & Cubans a close match?

Please let me know what similar soaps that anyone who had irritation from HeV CC settled on that didn't irritate them with a matching scent profile?

Like you, I love the aroma of H. et V. Cognac and Cuban cigars. Like you I rate the performance as below average.

Not too long ago, Grooming Dept released Le Tabac in their superb Kairos soap formulation. It is sold out on the artisan's web site, but is available at some vendors until sold out. The scent notes are: Fruit Accord, Aged Tobacco Leaves, Tobacco Pouch, Vanilla, Woody Notes. I have a similar scent by the same name in an older Fortis formula. It is not the same as Cognac and Cuban Cigars, but it is more like a Cavendish pipe tobacco scent. There is also a related scent called Tobacco Oud, but I do not have that one so I cannot comment on the scent.

House of Mammoth has a soap released in their superb Tusk formula called Tobacconist. The scent is reminiscent of a tobacco shop where cigars and pipe tobaccos are sold. The scent notes are: real tobacco absolute with cedarwood, dried fruit, amber, coumarin, spice, benzoin, heliotrope, and musk.

Why don’t you use a better soap and finish with Henri and Victoria cognac and Cuban splash?

Great suggestion, but I assume I would also feel the burn with the splash.

HeV Cognac and Cuban Cigars aftershave lit me up bad. I would suggest Chiseled Face Guy Noir as a replacement. I've never used it, but I've smelled it and the scent is identical IIRC.

If it’s a synthetic fragrance oil blend that’s creating the irritation then and you say it’s the identical scent it may be their both using the same fragrance oils. It’s not that uncommon. So might have a reaction to that one as well.

Just saying and food for thought.
