Hi everyone,

Looking forward to reading your posts.

Have been mainly using vintage Gillettes and a Feather, recently got a Parker Variant and not liking it. I'm disappointed it's not working out for me with the Variant and will probably trade it when I qualify to post in the buy/sell forum.

Have been experimenting mainly with blades recently, Silver Star's my current benchmark.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to  Damn Fine Shave and enjoy your stay, YYS.  I'm surprised the Parker Variant isn't working out for you.  It has turned out to be one of my favorite DE razors since I picked it up on the B/S/T several months ago.  What are the problems you are having with the razor?

That's actually my next blade. Haven't tried it yet, got a pack bundled with my Parker Variant. Am currently switching back and forth between my extra Feathers and Astra Plats after using Silver Stars for the last few months. Maybe the Shark will make the Variant work for me.

Based on all the reviews I was surprised I'm not happy with the results.

It's well made, mine has no problems with calibration, I love the feel, weight and balance (handle could be shorter, knurling could be edgier, but that's just personal preference). I like the smoothness on my skin and it looks darn good!

Maybe I haven't spent enough time on it but it nicks me on every single setting in the same 3 places. Bleeding in one place is so bad, alum does nothing. I never get that with my other razors, which are all mild by nature - Super Speeds, Knack, Popular... I keep buying new ones but...

Next on my list is a Mamba!

Welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear about the Variant. Glad to hear you have some other options that work well.

I hope you can find a blade that works with the Variant for you. In any event, it sounds like you have great backup razors. Again, welcome to DFS. Happy2
