oddly enough, even the slightest bit of growth on my head (in this case, 1 day) is enough to keep my hat from sliding off.

I think you're not pulling it down sufficiently, maybe?  I never have issues with my Carhartt stocking hats

I tend to wear fitted winter hats. this only seems to be an issue when my head is fully smooth. here I am a day later from being freshly shaved and have just enough growth on my head for the hat to grip onto..weird, I know. lol

Sure, some great beard shavers are losers on my head. I sold my Blackbird and the R41 sits in a drawer. My life is complicated enough,. I'm not gonna shave with two different razors, plenty work just fine for both head and beard.
