H&S vs my reference, Shake Sharp Mk1.0 (1945). Fresh Nacet in the H&S, two (yes two) of the same in the Shake Sharp.

My scale is packed but the combination of Bakelite and brass in the Shake Sharp yields a weight reasonably close to the titanium H&S.

Two passes on my neck, the H&S has the more aggressive feel than the ultra smooth Shake Sharp, both are exceedingly efficient, no real perceived difference between them. H&S handling is preferred going N to S here.

ATG pass on my head and the difference becomes clearer, the Shake Sharp feels more stable as it cuts through the coarsest stubble on the crown on the left side. The H&S has a bit of a harder time on the right (the two sides are a bit different). I do the final pick-up there with the Shake Sharp. Close call but edge to the old favorite but some of that may be familiarity.

Soap today was very nice, used way too much given these two razors don't need a relather on the cabeza.

I'll switch sides tomorrow.[Image: 76726fd148e0196fa6518d5917095473.jpg]

Pics don’t do this razor any justice, it is that meticulously finished. Superb by H&S as I’m thoroughly impressed from soup to nuts. I apologize for the sorry ass pics. And my apologies to DanLaw for posting here but, I didn’t want to start a new thread as everyone seems to be enjoying coming here to this thread. I believe this is where it deserves to be. If not, advise....

First - thank you to DanLaw for organizing this passaround. Dan is always on top of it and ensures that the razors move efficiently. It is a lot of work to interface with the artisans and manage the passarounds and I thank him very much for his efforts.

Also - of course - thank you to Aji at H&S for providing the razor and thank you to Dragonsbeard for providing the soaps.

First - the soaps. There was “Success” and an unscented Ethos soap. The scent on Success was very pleasant. The performance on both was first rate. Easy to lather, slick, protective. An excellent performer. As I mentioned before - I understand now why DanLaw and Shavemd speak so highly of the soap - in my view - it is justified. Frank - you need to get your website up and running so more people can order from you!

On to the razor. This razor is a marvel. One of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of using.
  • The finish on the Ti us the best I have seen. It is a high mirror polish, in my view. I did not even now it was possible to do this to Ti material. Aji really did a first rate job on the finish.
  • I was able to get a very close BBS that lasted 16 hours - very long for me.
  • The head is very slim and nimble. Shaving under the nose was easy.
  • The razor’s aggressiveness is proportional to its efficiency. I had minimal alum burn after each shave.
  • The used 3 blades on the shaves - a feather, a wizamet, and a kai. While all on the sharper side - they all worked very well.
  • Shaving against the grain - the litmus test for me - was a breeze.
  • The only thing I was not in love with, though it was highly functional, was the handle. I would probably pair the head with a different handle. I really hope that Aji decides to sell the heads in for the PO76 in this and 17-4 separately.
In summary, for those that like Ti razors - I would 100% recommend this - even at the $500 price point.

Dan - I will await your instructions on where to ship this wonderful razor next.

Is the maintenance of a polished titanium grade 5 razor the same as the SS razor maintenance? Is there any advantage of the titanium being a harder metal so less maintenance required?

It has arrived! I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to shave, but if it shaves half as good as it looks, I'm in for a treat. It's almost impossible to overstate the quality, I've never seen titanium finished like this. The polishing is damn close to Wolfman mirror polishing on SS. The very underside of the cap is not polished fully on mine, but everything else is just amazing. Here's a few pics, I'll upload my first shave thoughts tomorrow!

Just finished my first shave a bit ago and although its early, I have to say the hype is real. Forgive my borderline stream of consciousness thoughts, I'll just try to get everything I'm thinking out.

I know for me that blade feel was the big question regarding the Ti, everyone has different experiences, but I have to say, there was less blade feel than I was expecting. The closest razor I can compare it to would be the Blackland Dart, but less blade feel than that and so much smoother. Another similar razor would be the latest CG Level 2 maybe, but again, much much more efficient while being vastly smoother. A shallower angle gives less blade feel for me with this razor and I tended to lean more towards the cap. My ATG pass was simply phenomenal and almost all blade feel disappeared. The Ti has that typical titanium feel, soft, almost warm, just very pleasurable to shave with. The head design reminds me a lot of my WR1, which is a great thing. It's very honest and lets you know what's going on, it doesn't surprise you. I find some razors like the WR2 and maybe even the Diamondback to be somewhat muted in response and feedback, they are very smooth and efficient, but I find can get me in trouble, giving a false sense of security.

The razor is extremely efficient, I would say more efficient than the Diamondback, but not in the range of something like a WR2 1.55. Multiple passes were not needed in most places and it was an absolute laser in trouble spots. The weight is just right, no pressure at all needed anywhere and the titanium makes it so easy to keep technique on point. I doubt I would ever go with the OC as I just don't need anything more and I wouldn't want to sacrifice any of the incredible smoothness. I doubt I would go for the 17-4 either as the weight and feel of this is perfect.

I'm going to be using this razor exclusively for the next few shaves to really get a feel for it, I had a 4 day growth today that was just obliterated, even on the first shave of a Personna Blue. That's beyond my typical growth and I think it's only going to get more impressive. The Ti is a modern classic IMO and if you want a titanium razor polished like a piece of jewelry, this is it. The efficiency is really elite and the smoothness is right there with anything I've tried. I learned the hard way from the BBS1 and the RS10 that you have to order these things when they're available and I highly recommend getting one now while they're available. It's that good.
