Same here Zac. It's the only reason I didn't get Aether. I was excited about it before the scent notes were released. As soon as I saw peppermint as the first note, it was an immediate no for me. Not a knock at all, just personal preference. It makes me think of shaving with toothpaste or something.

Funny, knowing it had peppermint in it is one of the reasons I couldn't wait to buy it. Different Strokes for different folks, I guess.

It's a strong peppermint scent. It's high menthol peppermint called Peppermint Supreme. It doesn't smell like toothpaste at Smile at least to me. The clary sage gives it a grassy note, it's also bit ozonic. It's definitely noticeable when you whip up the lather. I hope this helps.

Sounds like a smell I will love.

Maybe I will wait until another tallow and duck fat soap comes out. It will be great to try in the cold dry CA winter.

Another fantastic shave today with the new formulation. Today's scent was Ambra.

I really enjoyed this scent-a little bit fruit, a little bit incense, and the performance and post-shave feel extraordinary.

So I reported in an earlier post that there was some underlying scent of ingredients that I could discern under the fragrances when I opened the soaps I got from Grooming Dept

I also noticed that when I let the two soaps I used before this one (Aether and Yuzu) air dry overnight, that 'underlying scent' dissipated.

I thought I was onto something until...

I opened this morning's soap, the Ambra, and just pure fragrance goodness. What the heck?

I opened the other 3 soaps that were still closed and unused and lo and behold-no underlying scent, just nice fragrance.

And then I remembered a conversation I had with the postal fellow who delivered this package.

He apologized for it being delayed because it was on a truck that had broken down and was out there on the street for about 6 hours. It then sat on another truck for a couple of hours, all of this in about 110 degree heat!.

I think what happened is that these soaps got a little extra 'cooking' and when they had a chance to settle and cool down for a couple of days, they returned to normal.

Put this morning's soap to the test of a very large, very dense brush, and it came through with flying colors. Bowl lathered again, and the fragrance really came out nicely.

All I can say is bravo, Mohammad!

Glad you like the scent. Ambra is one of my favorites.

Trivia Smile Can anyone guess what other soap on the market besides Grooming Dept contains Carnauba wax and Bees wax?

BTW, I use T1 Grade Organic Carnauba wax in case anyone wants to know.

Is it SV soap? Just guessing. Btw placed my order for Aether, hope is this Texas heat it will feel nice. I have been enjoying the lime soap which I guess was one of your first releases. Good work

I hear you guys on the Peppermint. Not into mints too, actually I even try to stay away from anything mentholated because I don't like the way it feels on my skin. I'm glad to hear it won't smell like toothpaste... Tongue

I'm still waiting for mine, but I have high hopes
