Revisit of Veritas -

After reading responses from some DFS members to my initial reaction of dissapointment when I opened the tub and found "goo" I had to take a step back. What I find most valuable is the insight offered by this community. I might not always agree but I do respect everyone's experience unless, of course,  they are just plain nasty in voicing their opinions. Mo has been subject to over the top criticism before and I have always felt it was unfair to him and his outstanding offerings. Mo quickly offered to send a shipping label and refund the cost of the soap. This says much about Mo's integerity as I did purchase from WCS and not directly from Mo. I did not contact WCS as I decided that I needed to reevalutate my reaction to be fair. I do recall the curing issue on the initial release but it was resolved by Mo, he took resposibility and replaced every tub. Now it is my turn and I have to own that my reaction was unacceptable. I do wish that the Veritas offering came with a notice that it was more cream like as I thought the replacements and WCS drop would be like his usual soaps or maybe I missed it or forgot. In the interest of fairness I decided to wait a day, let my stubble grow and then put Veritas to the test. I put a new Polsilver in my Timeless SS 95 this am, a small scoop of Veritas in the  bowl and went at it. Bottom line, great lather, and scent and it's staying in my den. I do thank all the members who said to give it a chance and those who willingly offered to sacrifice themselves by taking my "disappointment" by off my hands.

That might be the most mature thing I’ve ever read on this forum. Bravo

Pottertons I paired mine with Barrister and Mann's Romance in Middlesex County. No civet, but it is a great jasmine centered fragrance.

Thanks. I'll browse around for some.
EDIT: Hmmm. Just read some reviews on the B+M site and it seems quite feminine. Many of the purchases were for wives & GF's.
I'll see if I can grab a sample from someone.

Barbershop added to the big Apr.17th line-up. Seems to be a significant amount of citrus notes for a barbershop scent though....or perhaps my knowledge on barbershop scents is not up to scratch.

Checked it out on Basenotes. Minus the musk, it seems like a good match. at such a low cost, it might worth giving it a try.
One thing for sure, I'm on a mission to get a matching frag. Big Grin

I would not have guessed Barbershop from that much Citrus either, but who knows what goes on in Mohammad's workshop?  On a different note: To me the citrus sounds spot on with the warming weather.  Also, I could not help noticing the headline "This soap's base is vegan. It's as good as any Grooming Dept tallow formula! The hegemony of tallow is over Smile"  Them's powerful words!

I cannot see myself passing this up.

If you’ve tried Janus vegan from the last drop then you’ll get what he’s saying Wink

I used it again to make sure I wasn’t making it out to be better than it actually is and nope....it’s killer. I’m going to say that it’s the best vegan by far and better than many tallow bases out there.

I have a jar of Janus vegan in the pipe (Soap).  It was supposed to be here by now, but the USPS now shows it as "arriving late". Sad  I'm guessing they shave with tallow.  Winking

I've been less than happy with every great vegan out there......little bummed this is in vegan but the reviews give me pause.

I prefer citrus forward Barbershop scents over the powdery versions. Barbershop scents usually come either citrus or powdery forward.

Ah, now that you mention it. It does make sense.
I have B+M Seville and I still struggle to see how it's considered a barbershop scent. So cheers for the info. I've always related the type of scent to a smooth powdery accord.

Definitely interested in this Vegan base though.
