I would appreciate a comparison of these soaps by any of you who have tried them both. I generally prefer light, fresh, clean scents if that helps.

Thanks!

Hi Ramsay

The Magnolia and Oud is a fresher and brighter scent. The vegan Magnolia is somewhat darker, but it's not coming back, Magnolia & Oud will be back in a couple of weeks. There will be a new vegan magnolia, scent notes: Bergamot, black pepper, pink pepper, ginger, ylang ylang, gardenia, cedar, magnolia, sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, musk.

I really hope that in the near future Grooming Dept's samples become more available as well. I personally love scents on the lighter, fresher side such as Haslingers, SV, and Valobra soaps. Out of 8 to 10 North American artisans I've smelled, they're all heavily-scented, I don't know why they go so heavy on scent. If I find a Grooming Dept soap that is light and fresh on scent, it would be like hitting a jackpot for me, winning both on performance and scent. It is just a matter of finding the right scent which is purely subjective.

North Amercan artisans go heavy on scent because some people are vocal about wanting heavily scented soaps. That said, what's maybe overpowering to one nose may be lightly scented to another....

There are some problems with heavily scented facial products of course, one is that more people will have reactions to the scent products. Acqua di Parma discontinued the Colonia shaving cream because some people were having reactions to it, and Colonia was a classic scent and not that strong compared to NA artisan soaps. Fortunately there are currently many options for every nose!

Cheers, Steve

I do like light scents very much. The new tallow (coattails base) and a new vegan base will only come out in 2 light scents: Almond (tallow) and Coconut (vegan). Sometime in the summer I'll release two lightly scented soaps, in the regular tallow base: Muguet & Garden. The scent notes on Garden: Grass, Red Apple, Pear, Rose, Magnolia and Rosemary

Great news Mohammad! We all know you work very hard and put your heart into creating the finest shaving software in the market. I like the performance of the new US artisan soaps (Grooming Dept being a prime example of the new trend needless to say) and the European scent profiles as I said in my previous post. It sounds like Grooming Dept will bring the best of two worlds Smile I'm so eager to finally try one out as a first-time user.

Thank you Steve, just to give you an example of subjectivity of scent, a member kindly sent me a sample of Wholly Kaw Man from Mayfair, performance was top-notch, I found the scent pleasant but much on the strong side (it stayed with me for a good 24 hours!), the interesting thing was that many others found the scent of that to be 'mild', 'light', and 'fresh'! And almost any strong scent will burn my face, Geo F Trumpers (any scent), Henri et Victoria (any scent), Musgo Real Classic Sad

Hi Ramsay I hope you don't mind, I'll refrain from saying anything about the Muguet until I set a date for the release. Thank you for asking.
