Great razors are killing my den:)

I have loved my iKon102 ever since I got it.

Actually I love it so much, that I passed on my 34C, because it was never getting used.

Now I have my Heart set on a ATT S1, because I like the all stainless steel design, compared to aluminium head on the 102, which is a little bit soft.

My only "concern", apart from the price, is that if I get it, my iKon 102 will suffer the same fate as my 34C, all though I will probably never part with it, due to it being hard to find now.

I love my bamboo handle of my 102, and in regards to that, what handle would you ATT owners advise me to get? I am thinking about the Kronos.

The Wolfman and Above the Tie Slants razors have absolutely killed my den.  It's at the point where I just don't want to use anything else.  I cannot tell you the number of razors I've been through but there haven't been many DE razors that I haven't tried.  At this point there are very few razors that remain in my den and it's because of Wolfman & ATT

I feel the exact same way.  The razor that did it for me, unexpectedly, was the Ikon SB.  Up until then my favorite razor was the trusty ATT R2.  It was able to get the best combination of closeness and comfort, but I was still looking for something that would edge it out in both categories.  To that end I bought the Mongoose, BBS-1, RR Stealth slant, and ended up selling them all (for what I paid for them, naturally).

But a few months back I got the Ikon SB and fell in love with it first shave.  It was super comfortable with no nicks or weepers, but was able to get a closer shave (especially under my chin) than anything except maybe the R41.  After that first week I haven't used anything else, and certainly haven't thought of buying anything else.

I'd agree, my ATT H2 is about all I use anymore. It gives such a close and comfortable shave.

I will tell u this. The only 2 plates I have kept were the s2 and r2. I love them both equally. It would b a very hard decision to choose between the 2.

I'm dying to get my hands on an ATT Slant. I have used the Merkur 37 & 39c, Ikon DLC Slant, Ikon Slant (non dlc), Ikon Shavecraft #102, and both the aluminum and SS version of the Razorock Stealth Slant v.3. I also have a vintage Hoffritz Slant (looks very similar to Merkur in head geometry) and a Lutz Slant neither of which I have tried yet. My overall favorite is the Shavecraft 102 so far. Like you I am a big fan of Synthetic Brushes.

I've seen you rave about Wolfman Razors and seriously had my preferred plastic payment card in hand and was going to order.  Then I saw this.

This seriously rubbed me the wrong way, and made me think "it will be a cold day in ___________" before I ever do business with this company. In my view, this is a company that has had some very satisfied and happy customers who have given them great buzz and FREE advertising via forums and word of mouth and they have had some very real success because of it.  What is the first thing they do in turn?... raise prices by  40% on a razor head that already cost 125.00!!! They can list all the reasons they want as to why the price is increasing, but if any other product on the market went up 40% consumers would balk, and that is what I am doing.  40% increase in price and oh, by the way, you have to wait 4-5 months for our product... are they serious? Unreal.

They are free to conduct business as they please and as a consumer, I am free to lament their policies and decisions as well as their modus operandi; that is what the free market and capitalism is all about.  Personally, I hope their decision to stick it to consumers bites them hard....very hard.  I ordered an ATT Atlas H1 instead.

I am sympathetic to your view. However, Wolfman is apparently looking to reduce demand via the price increase, according to the website. I love doing business with the small businesses that have sprung up to support our hobby, that is, the so-called "artisans." But one drawback is that they often run out of inventory, and just as you read about a great new soap/razor/balm etc., you find out it's sold out and won't be back in stock on any definite date. I'm not happy about Wolfman's price increase, but they did give fair warning to those who wanted one to get their names on the list before 1 July, and apparently they want to take advantage of that old axiom of economics that if you raise the price, you will decrease demand. I believe Wolfman is basically just one person who's struggling to fill the orders that have poured in. Still, I feel your ire.

The same thing is going on with the Razorock Stealth Slant. The prices on ebay are skyrocketing to 2 to 3 times the retail price. It is a shame that the people who are the true shavers and cherish the products are at the mercy of these auction sites and greedy opportunistic people who care nothing about these superb artisan products will probably never get the chance to enjoy these products. To all you money hungry people out there, Let the true wet shavers get a chance to afford and use these products!

I agree Brian, and once you find those special products, that's all you want to use and you wind up neglecting some really good products. This hobby is so addicting. By the way, I love Kramperts Bay Rum soap!

To the Gentleman who wants to try the ATT S1/S2 Slant.  Don't waste your money.  The are overpriced and barely slanted at all.  I had an S1 and sold it at a loss.  I currently have a circa 1930's Lutz, which has story behind it hard to believe, found in Lituania, A Merkur 37C, an Ikon original slant in DLC, an Ikon/Shavecraft 102 slant, 2 Razorock aluminum Stealths (V-2 Kiyara in the raw) and the newest V-4 in black DLC.  I just PIFed my V-3 Stainless steel.  I called it the sledgehammer.  Rumor is the V-5 will be a lighter stainless and I might try that one.  The ATT slants are over-priced and have barely a 1 degree slant.  Might as well shave with a parallel blade.  JMHO.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I couldn't disagree more.  The ATT S1 and S2 are superb razors and have displaced every other razor in my den.  While not cheap, I would not consider them to be overpriced at all given the quality of the materials, manufacturing and design.  Not to mention the customer service Stan provides, which is first rate.  It's unfortunate that you didn't find the razor to your liking, but I'd encourage anyone interested to give the ATT slants a try, they are excellent performers in every way.
