Wonderfully informative! Maybe during the next sale I will pick up the golden filter. Good experimenting!

Yesterday, I tried out the Daddy Got Coffee recipe for the Cafec Deep 27 Flower dripper with the Bridge City Coffee (Greenville, SC) - Uganda Sironko Micro Mill beans. I nailed the the tasting notes and mouth feel. I was amazed.

I hope one day to be able to get those results from a V60. Maybe I should be using Flower dripers instead.

I made two brews this morning, both with the Bridge City Coffee (Greenville, SC) - Uganda Sironko Micro Mill beans.

The first brew was with the Cafec Deep 27 Flower Dripper using the 10g recipe from Viacheslav Druzhynin.

That was the first time using that recipe and I need to work with it a bit to get it where I like it. I think I would have more circle pours and maybe just two center pours. It had a bitter hint in the finish.

I have been itching to try out the Cafec T-90 filters I bought not too long ago. I decided to get a baseline brew with my regular Cafec Abaca filter.  I used the James Hoffmann "A Better 1 Cup V60 Technique" recipe with my glass Hario V60-01 brewer. I have not used that recipe in a while but the brew was OK. I plan to try again tomorrow with the T-90 filter and see what happens.

Today's brew was with Bridge City Coffee (Greenville, SC) - Uganda Sironko Micro Mill beans using the James Hoffmann "A Better 1 Cup V60 Technique" recipe with my glass Hario V60-01 brewer and a Cafec T-90 filter. This was the first time using the Cafec T-90 filter and today's brew was better than yesterday's brew using the Cafec Abaca filter but I think today's brew was better due to remembering to do both swirls for the recipe and pouring super slow. I would need to do more side by side testing with these two filters to see which one I like better for a given set of beans. Unfortunately, I don't have enough of these beans to repeat this comparison, so it will have to wait until my next bag of beans.

The upshot is that I have 8.2g of beans left which will be perfect for the Cafec Deep 27 Flower dripper using the Daddy Got Coffee 8g recipe.

I was given a gift card to Mystic Monk Coffee by a family member and decided to try out their Ethiopian beans.

I first did two brews at 8g with the Cafec Deep 27 Flower dripper using the Daddy Got Coffee recipe to find a good starting grind size.

I then did a third brew with my glass April Brewer using the April Gabi B recipe to see about pulling some of the tasting notes.

No tasting notes so far, but I am just getting started with these beans.

Today's brew was with Mystic Monk Coffee (Meeteetse, WY) - Ethiopian beans using the James Hoffmann "A Better 1 Cup V60 Technique" recipe with my glass Hario V60-01 brewer and a Cafec T-90 filter. I think having the slow pouring ability from my Oxo electric goose neck kettle is making my Hario V60 a relevant brewer. I still have my eye on a 1 cup Cafec Flower dripper to pair with my Cafec Deep 27 Flower dripper.

I am still on the quest to get the blueberry tasting notes for the Mystic Monk Coffee (Meeteetse, WY) - Ethiopian beans. The tasting notes were labeled as having "notes of intense blueberry and bright citrus". I have yet to get any blueberry notes at all but I have managed some citrus.

I tried two different brewers this morning (and three brews):
Varia FLO dripper using the Kurasu logo 'Fast 2' screen and the Alternative Brewing 4:6 recipe with a target of heightened acidity (more brightness) and a light body
Timemore B75 with a Timemore filter and using the Coffee Chronicler B75 recipe

Still no blueberry notes. The quest continues.

MaineYooper I did another AeroPress brews this morning as a follow up to my comparison between the AeroPress (silver) stainless steel filter and their gold tone titanium-coated stainless steel filter.

I was brewing with the preground Wicked Joe Organic Coffee Co. (Topsham, Maine) - Guatemala Huehuetenango coffee using the Wonderstate Coffee recipe.

In a previous post I mentioned using this recipe with the regular (silver) stainless steel filter and mentioned that 1/4 of my coffee cup was full of brew water before I was able to seal the chamber with the plunger.

Today, I repeated the brew with the AeroPress gold tone filter and examined the amount of water that wound up in my cup before I was able to seal the chamber with the plunger. The gold tone filter filled my cup 1/4 of the amount compared to the silver filter. In other words, the gold tone filter was much better at keeping water in the chamber to brew than the silver filter did.

I ran across these brew guides from Ceremony Coffee and liked the added guidelines for brewing older coffee. I plan to give some of these a try.

I decided to try one of the brew guides from Ceremony Coffee today (see my previous post for a link to all their brew guides).

I went with their (hot) immersion brew guide:
https://ceremonycoffee.com/pages/immersi...?ref=shown

I used my Hario Switch but any steep and release brewer would work with the recipe.
I am still working through my Mystic Monk Coffee (Meeteetse, WY) - Ethiopian beans.

I might try the drip cone brew guide next.

The Hoffmann 'Better 1 Cup V60' recipe worked the best for these beans so far.
