Living on the edge
Been noticing a lull in commercial activity with regard to shaving goods.
Used to be a real buzz not long ago...new razors, creams, brushes
and whatnot being released at a brisk trot almost every other week.

Now it's slowed to a crawl. The only launch I remember in recent
months is the Athena.

How hard do you reckon the current economic woes are hitting
the manufacturers of shaving goods? Do you reckon the slowdown
in activity is brought on by problems on the supply side or the demand?

We have not noticed any slowdown. We're up year over year. I would imagine some of the higher priced hardware sellers would be the ones feeling the pinch the most.

I think there have been quite a few new premium razor launches recently. Karve Overlander copper and stainless steel, Aylsworth Drakkant, Atelier Durdan Le Maurice, there are several new versions of the Rocnel Sailor (some priced at several thousands), Haircut & Shave Ti 1.30 Aggressive (following closely after their Ti Efficient), all the Tatara titanium models. Maybe more that don’t immediately pop into my head, but it’s already quite a lot and doesn’t seem like less activity than in the past.

A good barometer is the amount of sales e-mails to push product & lately it's off the charts. This market peaked circa 2016.
Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

I think with rising food prices, fuel prices, interest rates for home buyers, and probably credit card debt .... we are seeing the beginning of the effect of an inflationary spiral.

People will have less discretionary income, and non essential items for those of average income will suffer a slow down ... IMHO.

Speaking as one who experienced the Arab Oil Embargo, and subsequent fallout in the economy here in the USA ... and I'm sure the world.

On the news in the '70s I used to hear "double digit inflation" reported for a long time. Let's hope we don't go through that experience again.
