So I just yesterday received my long awaited RazoRock Black Mamba razor and its beautiful.  Great finish.  Joseph included a complimentary 5 pack of Gillette Nacet blades in the package.  I had never tried these particular blades so I looks them up and they seem highly regarded.  Yes, remember YMMV - I shaved with that combination this morning do things in the usual way, musglo pre shave soap, Barrister & Mann Petrichor shave soap (great scent and vegan too) without getting into too much detail I had a rough shave with a few nicks and plenty of weepers.  I'll tell you the alum block opened my eyes.  I finished off with Krampert's Finest Frostbite  for its soothing qualities and later applied Barrister & Mann's amazing Wonderbalm so all is under control.

My question - has anyone had any experience with the Gillette Nacet blades?  good bad or indifferent.  I'm trying something different in the Black Mamba tomorrow.

I picked up some Nacet blades from Joe as well. I think they are a solid blade and I have not had poor shaves but I do have other blades that give me a better shave.

In the BM, I have found that Feather blades work great. For whatever reason they also seem to last longer as well. I have been getting as many as 7 shaves per blade when my normal would be 3-4 for a Feather. Not sure what to attribute it to but it has been consistent; possibly that the blade is so secure there is not any chatter.

Who knows- has quickly become my favorite razor though.

Thats interesting - I use the Feather blades in the Feather AS-D2 razor as I find they work best in that razor and they routinely give me a BBS shave.  I get 4 or 5 shaves out of a blade.  I'll definitely try the Feather blades in the BM.  Thanks for the tip.

Thanks, I'll try the nacet blades in other razors.  Along the lines of YMMV, I find that some blades work better in specific razors.  The feathers in the EJ DE89 were dangerous while they worked well in the ikon OSS and perfectly in the Feather ASD2 (Duh).  Most of the blades that i'd tested on the DE89 that worked really well on that razor (Bic, Gillette Silver Blue, Derby, Shark, Bolzano and a few more) don't work particularly well on the ASD2 or the OSS.  The silver blue is great on the OSS.  The Astra blue was just ok on the DE89 and I did not like the Astra green, however both the blue and greens work very nicely on the ASD2 and the OSS.  I used the Feather in the Black Mamba (I love saying that - cheers Kobe) and it worked nicely.  Thanks for that tip kwsher.   I think I'd better stop getting new razors as the permutations and combinations of razors and blades will become overwhelming....says the guy with an ikon #102 slant in the mail and a Wolfman coming later this month, maybe.

Joe commented in a thread about products that flew under the radar and his comment was about the Nacet blades. After seeing that I picked up a tuck of them and tried them in several of my razors and found the performed well in all of them. I have blades a stock pile of blades that I really like so I haven't bought more Nacets but I found them to be good blades.

I like them a lot and have not issue with them.

I actually used those blades for my first ever use of the Wolfman Standard Bar razor.

Performed flawlessly.

Hi Mark, I have now used three of my initial stock of Nacet blades and they are definitely one of my favorite Gillettes, edging out the SB for me.

Look forward to your thoughts in the future but they are a solid blade. Still favor the Feather in my BM but nice to have a choice for a little something different!

Hi Kevin, thanks for the feedback on the nacet blade. I will definitely try it in my other razors and keep an open mind. Also thanks for the suggestion to try the feather in the BM, its great in that razor. I'm in a slow shaving period right now as I'm growing out my winter beard so just shaving the neck every couple of days. I find this shaving (partial) hiatus serves to intensify my love of the shave experience when I get back to it. Now I'm in withdrawal. I just received an ikon shave craft #102 slant last week and haven't been able to give it a fair trial. Something to look forward to I guess. I'm also expecting a wolfman at some point in the next month or so - I got my request in under the wire before James cutoff all further requests in order to focus on actually making the razors. Life is funny - you're either overworked or out of work. No happy medium.

Hi Mark, I don't shave by tradition in the month of November which is enough to go full and thick. Wife hates it but tolerates and I get more grey every year so it is always something surprising. Definitely reminds me of how much I enjoy this thing we do though!

Glad that the Feather BM combo is working out; I used the same this morning with a fresh blade and am still smooth here at Noon. Great combo.

Look forward to your thoughts on the 102. I don't have one but have and enjoy the 101 so would like to pick one up but prefer ordering indirect from one of our retailers. Will see if they get stock.

I am also keen on the Wolfman and should be up in October. I wonder if it will challenge my current favorite which is definitely the BM. If you get your prior, another on which I would very much enjoy hearing your perspective.
