Gillette and their $150 new Razor

I'll stick with my $25 Aristocrat thanks. Outperforms every other razor I've owned, including Wolfman, Timeless, and the the Charcoal and BBS-1 I tried on loan. Shame, it used to be that Gillette easily was the best you could get. Now they just want to rake you over the coals and take your cash.

Gillette is trying to re-invent the wheel again.  Hey I like a warm blade like the next guy, so I just run it under hot running water at the beginning of each shave and during each rinse.  Hot damn I just saved 150 clams that I can spend on another vintage Gillette.

This is a niche product. Hard core shavers like us won't buy the thing and non-hard core shavers certainly won't buy it. This will be bought by wives, daughters and girlfriends for that guy who either has everything or they consider to be a shaving nerd. And he won't use it. Gillette will probably produce enough to cover their costs and make a tidy profit and then stop producing them because nobody is buying them after that first wave of gifters.

I will wait until they come out with a stainless steel model, and more aggressive carts, also must be polished.

what benefit does a heated razor actually give?

will it cut throw the whiskers easier?!

My guess is to give canned gel/cream the sensation of a warm lather whipped up in a scuttle.  I’d definitely go the scuttle route over this heated razor.

Looks to me like they ran out of product marketing ideas. At the last product update meeting they decided that introducing a razor with 35 blades wasn't going to sell any better than their current 34 bladed model. This was the result of the brainstorming session that followed.

A lot of guys probably will use it, even if they wouldn't buy one for themselves. After all, it certainly looks better than most Fusion razors, and is heated. Traditional Shavers wouldn't use it, but most of the guys receiving these gifts will be cartridge shavers anyways. If a fancy, expensive, heated razor improves their shaves, then good for them.

Fancy, expensive cartridge razors are good, and are gateway drugs. Such gifts are typically bundled with quality cream, soap, and aftershave. It opens up a whole new world to the recipient. If you don't believe me, browse around in an Art of Shaving store sometime, paying particular attention to the other customers. A lot of them never realized there was anything beyond drugstore razors and canned gel. That is the general public, folks. Other people make the same discovery by stumbling across a wetshaving forum. Either way, it's all good.

A Gateway drug to be sure Tbone , thats exactly how I got started. Now I have several fancy cartridge razors that I never use. I need to sell some of my unused stuff.
