Before Thanksgiving I went to pick up my son from school. Since I had some time to kill before his last class ended, I went out to the battle field and took some pictures...

This is a wonderful memorial. It can be just the beginning of a long, extraordinary and historically meaningful thread. A recounting of a historically glorious and painful segment of US history

Very nice photos.

My wife and I visited there and had a lovely an informative time.

There is a surreal atmosphere. Even if you know nothing of the history you can tell "something" happened there.
My wife and I both had this feeling. It was neither scary nor creepy just somber. The feeling made you feel respectful.

The feeling is what I remember most about our day there.

That and a plaque describing how a sniper with a muzzle loader and brass site tube killed a Union officer whilst the officer shaved.
