SOTD pic from a long time ago. Love my MMOC looks wise, but still don't like it shave wise lol. Found it in almost mint condition with the case and blade banks for $20. I need to sell it though since it is collecting dust.

Just to correct some inaccuracies here, Delta Echo does, in fact, completely take apart the razor and ensure it is working properly as part of the process. I asked this specifically before sending in one of my Slims, and this was confirmed by the owner in writing. My other Slim looks fantastic, but I far prefer my Delta Echo Slim for its looks. If keeping things original is your preference, that’s fine, but I don’t know of anyone who has a razor done by them that isn’t thrilled. I have lots of vintage razors, two of which were cerakoted by Delta Echo. They are beautiful and were worth every penny.

What did you use to polish the razor? I have a brass MMOC in need of polishing

When you send one to Razor Emporium for replating, it is disassembled and restored.  Delta Echo just puts a coating on an old razor.  I had a GEM Bullet Tip coated by Delta Echo, but in the end I found that the GEM Bullet tip that I bought NOS (New Old Stock)was a better shave for roughly the same cost.  Unless you are after a razor in a specific color, I'd recommend finding one that was NOS.

I doubt Micromatics are being disassembled, from what I have heard all that tried to disassemble one if they were able to assemble it, it didn't function as it should

I know they absolutely take apart vintage Gillettes, but the MMOC is one that I don't know about. I wonder if they have actually taken one apart,

Here is what they say about Gillette razors:

"Restoration of Gillette Fat Boy razor.

You ship your Fat Boy to us...

We...
Disassemble and clean your razor.
Prep and coat your razor.
Reassemble and set the blade gap.
Test function.

Your razor is shipped back to you, ready for use."

Here is the MMOC:

"Restoration of GEM Micromatic razor.

You ship your Micromatic to us...

We...
Clean your razor.
Prep and clean and then re-clean your razor.
Coat and cure your razor.
Test function.

Your razor is shipped back to you, ready for use."

Nothing about disassembly because like the post above stated they don't function correctly after trying. Somebody should email them and ask I guess.

Razor Emporium might know better than any of us. I think British Aristocrats run into the same problem and nobody wants to take them apart for fear of them not functioning correctly when put back together.

Honestly this is kind of or should be a non issue when a MMOC with perfect function will set you back $15. Why would you choose to send out one with any issues? They don't require maintenance.

We kind of are chasing rabbits here. My original comment here was intended to convey that in my experience a refurb from Delta Echo is comparable to a refurb from any reputable replating service. I’ve done both and been equally pleased with both. My point was that the decision to cerakote, replate, or leave a razor finish untouched is a personal choice. Between the vendors mentioned, I’d expect the finished product to be outstanding and equal in function.
