This one is for a good friend of both mine and the shave community, Jim Judy! Jim was recently diagnosed with blood cancer called Kahler's disease, otherwise known as Multiple Myeloma. Jim is a fighter and is determined to beat this, but as we all know, medical care these days is rather pricey...and that's why we are here to day!
I remember meeting Jim many years back at The Grand Shave Lodge meet up we held at Old Town Shaving in sunny Pasadena, California! He came bursting through the door looking like Santa Claus toting a big bag of the recently discontinued BRUT Dominant Aftershave and passing it out free of charge to anyone who wanted one! At the time this stuff was a "Hot Commodity" and being sold on ebay for a small profit by many, yet here was Jim just giving it away! Talk about paying it forward!
Not only has Jim been a generous part of our humble community for years he also recruited me way back to help him propose to his now wife Steph at The Big Shave 3! You may have seen photos or video of this moment that will forever be a highlight of that years event for me and many others...especially Jim & Steph. A year later I was even more honored to officiate their wedding in California!
Why ADP Colonia?
The reason I went with Acqua De Parma was because not only is it one of Jim's signature fragrances it also reminds me of the day before his wedding. Him and I were running around town doing last minute shopping for the big day and shoes were the last item on the list. While inside the shoe store as he shared navy stories, both he and I caught a whiff of a familiar scent coming off the salesman which struck up a conversation. Sure enough it was Acqua Di Parma! Forever after this classic fragrance will remind me of that special weekend!

In designing the label I wanted Jim's input rather than me go completely SciFi crazy as I am wont to do at times...and I'm glad I did [Note: there are a few easter eggs still to be had!]. One place that he had never traveled to but always wanted to visit is the Amalfi Coast, Italy!
The Amalfi Coast is a 50-kilometer stretch of coastline along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula, in the Campania region. It’s a popular holiday destination, with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages. The coastal road between the port city of Salerno and clifftop Sorrento winds past grand villas, terraced vineyards and cliffside lemon groves. The description sounded like a perfect marriage of visual to the scent notes laid out.
