Indeed.  I also run exclusively on Linux, simply because it makes it the easiest to jump from running on servers at work to a desktop at home.  The fact that it is free helps, too , of course, that makes it really hard on times like now, when I have broken my laptop and I have to work on my wife's computer... Confused

sys admin?  I run linux on all of my web servers.  the backup server I posted photos of above will run freenas, which runs on top of freebsd.    for my personal computers, I run windows.  I like the simplicity of running windows, to be honest.  linux can be a PITA at times.
Heheh, I've been running Linux so long that I feel the same way about windows now. I currently am acting as a DBA for the group I'm working with, but have acted as a Linux admin in the past

I'm mostly self taught. I had some instruction with knoppix a few years back in school.

The languages I'm most familiar with are Java, web languages (php, html, XML, etc), Python, and C. If I had my choice, though, I think I'd spend the rest of my time in C#, which I just started in, simply because the MonoProject and Unreal Engine make game development free and easier than ever before.

I did some c++ in high school. since my daily job is more hardware/software support, I don't have much motivation to learn to write code and stick with it.

Yeah. I understand. For me, the motivation is largely internal. I just want to eventually create the game that is bugging me and won't leave my head. For that, you need large project chops
