Focus 3 piece DE

I've been enjoying shaving with this razor.  The level of efficiency this razor achieves with such a small blade gap and blade exposure is impressive.  The proprietor of The Superior Shave calls this "A very aggressive razor" and compares it to the Mühle R41.  I disagree.  To me this is a smooth and comfortable shaver, which gives a very close one pass shave with no irritation.  The Mühle R41, on the other hand, is neither smooth nor comfortable, and unless care is taken, there could be blood.  There is one disappointment though.  The threading on the center post does not extend to the base of the topcap (as seen in photo), that limits your use of other handles, which require a 2 mm spacer to cinch up.  I think they want you to use their handle.  Oh well.

Coool razor. But personally the R41 is super smooth for me. I too felt the same way and one day it just was smooth and and effortless razor for me to use.

I continue to be impressed with the shaves I get with this razor (R52 Concave), and I'm looking forward to getting a stainless steel R62.  But there is a flaw with this razor that I wish the manufacturers would correct.  The threading does not continue all the way down the center post, but stops 2 mm short of the baseplate (4 mm short of the topcap).  So if you want to use a different handle, you will need a nylon washer to take up the gap, (and nylon washers have a tendency to end up down my drain).  The only other option is to use a die to extend the threading.  But I've never used one before, and wouldn't want to risk ruining the razor.  It's not a problem with the aluminum model which has a 30 gram handle, but the stainless steel handle weighs 85 grams.  I don't like heavy handles, and have several titanium handles which I would rather use.  So it goes.

These razors seem to be on sale today. The Concave version is second only to my Rocnel Sailor. YMMV.

The concave R52 is on sale at IB again. Very good razor. I just grabbed a back up with some of the new GroomingDept soaps.

As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with this project.
Cumbo Srl in Milan (Italy) is already known in the sector.

They do it with the Focus "Tritok", which in their dialect means three pieces.

Obviously they do it with the material they know best: Aluminum.
In this case, a very resistant alloy was chosen, the 6082 Anticordal.

For now the production is stopped, due to the Coronavirus.
If all goes well, production will be available by the end of April.
In fact, it is all handmade in Italy, with anodized aluminum.

Mine is blue R51 Flat model, and I got it from the Italian distributor Rasoi Milano.

It has a very particular geometry.
The head and therefore also the blade is absolutely flat.
There is a preset angle of 25 ° on which the head rests on the skin and requires an adjustment of the technique.
Very intuitive in theory, not very easy in practice.
I've been using it these days, but I still don't control it to perfection.
So always very smooth shaves, in fact it is designed with an almost zero gap and a neutral exposure.
Even the neophyte can't get hurt with this.
But without the right technique, the depth of cut can be difficult to find.
I am learning, and I enjoy doing it.
