Well Doug. You have the disposition of most "normal humans". It's the vocal minority that everyone knows about. Because the squeaky, bitchy, cry baby wheels get the grease.
I have an old school approach to these type of people. I do not cater to whiners and reward bad behavior. No one person is more or less important on my route.
I rotate the neighborhoods around so that no neighborhood is either always first or always last to be plowed. I have 9 neighborhoods i am responsible for and the connecting miles of road to them.
Not sure how many homes are on my route. Honest guess 900-1000. I know I got 3 mailbox's. Not bad.
Years ago when I first started this job. Myself and another guy were the ones that replaced damaged mailbox's in our district. We made up and stockpiled posts and had either black or silver cheapo box's. About 15 years ago the county changed it up and now just cuts a check for it. Not sure how much. I'll have to check. A long time ago, I knocked over a brick mailbox. Actually didn't hit it that hard. It tipped over at slow motion. Almost thought it would come back to where it belonged. But it went past the tipping point and into the driveway. Shattering like a glass vase. That was fun.
