That’s funny about the public access to the snow plow trackers, but I agree with you that that outcome was pretty predictable. I am glad that the icy roads aren’t too much for you to handle Ken. Be safe out there!

Ooh yeah, I'm not surprised in the least in that outcome Stateside. Too many folks here want it now, want it free, and want you to thank them for the ability to do them a favor or service.

Maybe if we had silly names like Scotland does people would be too distracted to compl... SQUIRREL!

Major fail. The phone lines melted. People couldn’t get it to load and work. They don’t pay for “real time” it only refreshes every 15 mins. So people were confused.  And then when guys left their route to go get fuel, salt, coffee or take a crap. They would call and ask why they weren’t on the route anymore. They turned public access off. Fiasco. They don’t do it anymore.
I told my boss my prediction that that was going to happen. And he disagreed and argued vehemently with me. Wanker.

Try to make it easy for folks to understand what's going on, and instead everyone wants to know why everything doesn't revolve around their needs! The, shall we say, dropping the kids off at the pool, struck a chord. I had someone upset at how long it I was gone from the pharmacy because of #2! After waiting 5 minutes, he wondered out loud if maybe I had a problem! I wanted so bad to tell him to close his pie hole, because $h1te happens!

Me and the crew of Daddy’s Girl are still operational. Though Bob says that AST Barbie snores and talks in her sleep. So needless to say he’s in a bit of a crappy mood. She’s complaining that mini fluffy is a bit handsy. Ain’t nothing I can do about that.
We been back at it since 0200. Salting the whole route. Things iced up pretty good. If not for my incredible skill and knowledge of how to handle the conditions. Things could have gone very differently.  Even AST Barbie was impressed.
Have a Good Friday guys. No shave last night for me.
Fluffy.

Ken, you have a gift, my friend, for telling a good story! Made my day with these posts!

+1 with Eric.  You do have a gift for telling a good story Ken, for talking man-to-man, and for making people laugh.

(Just don't let that go to your head.) Big Grin

Thanks for the kind words Eric and Mike. Thanks to the wonders modern technology. Through my cell phone and this forum. My over active imagination and lack of real people in close proximity. I am able to share with you guys my daily goings on. I am glad that sometimes they  give you a laugh.  I have often thought that given the chance I might be able to do a pilot for a sitcom. Based on my time at the county. I already have the opening credits scene in planned out. How the show would open. It (show)  would only require three or maybe four sets. A truck cab optimized for filming. And then story based location shoots. A core cast of about 8 people with other characters to branch out or fill in stories.
Lately though if I am really serious. The kind of humor and true life story lines would not pass current PC cancel culture rules. Think about it. If George Carlin was a young unknown comic today. Would he become famous? Or would he be black balled? Am I allowed to say (black balled?) Could All in the Family be started?
The real life un-embellished plot lines that I have lived run the spectrum of funny, sad, poignant and tragic. And by todays standards a lot of them controversial.

Quite a few times on another forum. I have had posts deleted. For political satire or comments. I get it, they are scared of people getting carried away. But honestly before I posted them. I probably re wrote them more than once to try and be PC. And still failed.  If you want to know the whole story on my latest character AST Barbie. In truth I was going to name her "Colored Barbie" then thought people are gonna get offended. If someone thinks/assumes that my use of the word "colored" is derogatory/racist. Then that is there problem. In my brain and heart it is simply descriptive. No different than me  adding the word short, fat, bald, skinny, big eared, big nosed etc. When describing an individual.  Then nexus of my use of the word. Is rooted in my grandfather and father. That is the word they have used my entire life. My great grandfather used the other word. He was born in 1890's. My grandfather served during WW2 and that is what the guys he served with were "Colored Troops" They were his friends and comrades. After the war. Many of them stayed in the area of Edgewood Arsenal. Where my grandfather served assembling mustard gas artillery shells. They lived in the same off post housing. Their kids played with my dad and uncle. All went to school together. My grandmother was their Boy Scout den mother.
You would certainly have a difficult time in the military if working with and taking orders from people of different backgrounds, races, religions bothered you. I loved my time in the Army. And formed tight bonds with all kinds of people. That I would have never met had I not served. But honestly the Army didn't change my attitudes on race. It confirmed them.
If you volunteered and took the same oath as me. Then you were my brother. Everyone I meet starts with a baseline average amount of respect. I treat everyone equally.  Your actions move the needle up or down.  Respect is earned not demanded.  If you are PC, do yourself a favor and never apply to work with me and the guys at Highways. You will be perpetually offended.
If I treat you in a negative way. It has nothing to do with the color of your skin. But the content or lack there of. Of your character.
Over the years my use of the word colored has been questioned and looked down upon by some. I tell them "when the NAACP changes their name. I'll consider not using the word."
Rant over sorry for the long winded post.
Alternative Skin Tone Barbie is my way of pointing out the silliness of the whole thing.

I think of you every time I break out the C-Mon Dave in KY .  Sock puppet Bob has orders to box it up and send it down to Kentucky if something happens to me.
I told him if he doesn't respect my wishes. Then you'll have an exorcism performed on him. And force his ghost to inhabit a Tickle me Elmo instead.
