Thanks to an awesome trade with Bleacherbum76, I am now the owner of a ShaveRevolution 24mm brush. This is my first bush with the plisson styled knot. Previously, I've used a WhippedDog Übersoft style knot and an S-Brush from Omega.
Between the Übersoft and the Plisson knot, I'm not really sure I can tell the difference. The backbone in the SR brush is ever so slightly less, but other than that, what is it that makes the plisson knots so well loved? I feel like I'm missing something.

The difference is backbone for the most part. I have always believed that the softness is nearly identical, and I've owned real the real Plisson and have some knock offs. I am guessing the Shave Revolution knot is very dense and/or has a lower loft. My Plissons all splay easier than my Ubersofts, but face feel is pretty close.

Plisson-style knots are so well loved for the following universal reasons:

* Ease of lathering
* Fast drying
* Cruelty free
* Low cost
* Low maintenance
* Extremely soft face feel

Basically you get badger level performance for an insane price. The best Plisson-style brush I've tried so far has been the Razorock Plissoft 24mm. Can't be beat for $10.

I had a L'Occitane Plisson and I do believe it was my first Plisson style knot. After acquiring the Stirling Hoss, I sold the Plisson. I wanted more backbone and softness as well as a bigger knot and the Stirling fit the bill.
