Received a new 26 mm Cashmere knot from APShaveCo yesterday. To my surprise, they stopped using boxes for their knots. It came in squished... basically flat. So, the brush had a rather oblong shape. I figured it'll probably perk back up, shortly.

I installed it last night. Did a cleaning lather this morning, then used it this afternoon. It still looks well out of shape, unfortunately. It worked great, don't get me wrong, but it looks really goofy. All I can do is hope it rounds itself out... eventually. That is, if it wasn't in fact made this way in error (or just poor workmanship?).

Again, I'm very disappointed. I just don't have any luck with APSC. [Image: 50a1fbb0f066c1a78035c0d1eaa81366.jpg]

hey Paul, I got exactly the same thing with my recent purchase of the Muhle STF, squished in a padded envelope. It, too, had that squarish look. It happened with another knot bought towards the end of last year, and also having a squarish look. Good news, it does eventually round out again! I wonder if a rubber band or hair tie would speed up the process? I will try that and report back on your journal (assuming I remember too!)

Thanks Eric, glad to hear it's not likely a manufacturing issue. I'm fine with "eventually". It's not ideal, but like I said... it was cheap.

Now, the STF is one expensive knot! I would be livid if a $45 synth shows up squished, without a 25¢ box to protect it. You are a better man than I. Lol.

EDIT: Nevermind... mine was a cheap knot. I'm going to try the hair tie thing myself. I'll post my findings in a week or so.

Sad, but shame on them even if it works it's way back to shape. It should be sent properly packed so it is the shape it is supposed to be when it arrives....
