My all time favorite scent is Creed Aventus, so any affordable clone will do, but there are some clones that stand out as some of the best.

I find that the best CA clone in an EDP cologne, is Club De Nuit Intense!

I find that the best clone in a shave soap that I've tried, is Saponificio Verasino Opuntia!

Of course, what is Opuntia shave soap, without its matching aftershave?

I also have the matching EDP cologne as well, and it smells awesome too. But Club De Nuit Intense is still #1 IMO!

Alt Executive No 26 is another good CA EDP cologne. It takes the 3rd place slot for me regarding scent, of all the clones I've tried thus far.

I've also tried Stirling's Executive Man, and it does smell good, but its even further away from being a proper clone, its more of their own take on the scent. I've also tried Captains Choice Venture, which is more of the same, their own take on the scent, it also smells good. These ones are 4th place slots for me in regarding scent closeness.

Nice post. I have a soft spot for CA as well. Just ran out of the real McCoy and I need to get more.

A couple of soaps that are also really really exceptional in the CA family are WSP Olympia [my favorite] and Ethos Grooming Success. The Opuntia is wonderful, and is #2 for me. Fine's version was also great [the old triple milled hard pux]. I found your AFS to be spot on. I don't like the new soft base, abs can't address the fragrance in that newer version.

I’ve never smelled real Aventus.  My only experience related to it is a clone in the form of Rasasi Por Lui.  A quick glance at Fragrantica makes me wonder if they’ve reformulated in the several years since I’ve bought my bottle.  Either way I’ve never really had complaints and it does seem to get some compliments.

Edit: I had forgotten about the Fine Platinum which I also have in soap form. I like that too and have no complaints. Maybe I should buy a decant of the real stuff to be able to compare my clones to.

I wonder if your local Macy's or other fine fragrance store would have a tester bottle. You could spray some of your dupes on a piece of paper and take it with you. That's a free comparison. Then you'll know if it's worth it for you.

I'm an odd ball... I can't fathom spending $400 on a "maybe".

You may want to check out a particular website that will literally Scent Split your fragrances into convenient testing sample sizes, even for crazy expensive cologne like CA.

Yeah that’s wayyy out of the realm of what I would ever consider shelling out on a blind buy.  The next time I’m in a big city I’ll keep an eye out.  What I would consider for a blind buy would be a small decant of Aventus but when I went to Basenotes I discovered that they have shut down their entire marketplace.  Bummer.

My favourites are almost all bay rums and, of course, Tabac. Masculinity on 11. I also have a soft spot for Cyril R. Salter French Vetiver. I wish it was available in a splash as well.  Happy2

Lavanille remains something I cannot get enough of.
Trumpers bay rum is right up there but I don’t see them carrying it anymore. My bottle is from about 20 years ago.

There’s a few places that still carry GFT bay rum. I can’t get it shipped to Canada though. This place ships to over 30 countries but not Canada. I can’t help but take that personally.
