Favorite Noble Otter Scents

I find northern otter scents pretty light for my nose, however, I am enjoying Northern elixir right now.

I tried a handful of samples from Noble Otter the past week.  Based on thoughts and recommendations from people, it seems that Noble Otter soaps are something one doesn't want to make a snap judgment of if they can help it.  Smell it on the puck, lather it, shave with it, give it some time was what I heard.

1.  Lonestar - this is the only soap I bought a full puck of.  Off of the tub I got pure leather but when lathered I smelled the other individual elements, the hay, the field, etc.  I Love this one, very manly scent.
2.  Noir Et Vanille - Loved the scent off the sample, did not like it after it was lathered.  At first I thought it was going to be tea and I was happy but after I lathered it, it was jasmine or lily or something just super super stout and floral and so far I am not a fan.  Kept it though and will try it a couple more times.
3.  Two Kings - punchy, bright floral with the oud.  Did not like it but kept it because who knows what a few shaves might make.
4.  Plunder - hated this one off the puck, hated it even more when lathered.  There is something I cant get over with this, smells like Frankenstein's choice of bay rum.  Just there is a little bit of horror in it I can't explain.  Tossed it after it was lathered and was disgusted by it.
5. Monarch - This i'm trying to resolve with the vendor.  I believe this is Two Kings mistakenly packaged as Monarch because it not only doesn't have the powder scent, its not green colored and smells and looks (tan) just like two kings.

I wanted to try Barr Barr but the sample was unavailable.  Everything else had even more floral descriptions like Rawr and Hamami or whatever.  Overall, I feel like his line has way too many floral scents. Just my two cents. I like Lonestar enough that I will eventually try Barr Barr and keep an eye on his future releases that maybe a scent and I will agree with each other.

Lonestar is the one I've been eying most, of the ones currently available.
I'd also likely be interested in Orbit when it returns.

I have 4 scents, Barrbarr, Firefighter, Rawr, and Lonestar.

Both Barrbarr and Rawr mean a lot to me in an emotional sense. Barrbarr smells a lot like my grandfather. It reminds of Brylcreem and the barbershop at the military base he used to take my siblings and me. My favorite traditional barbershop by far. Rawr smells exactly as described with green grass and dandelions. Every time I use it it reminds me of my daughter playing in the field behind our house picking dandelions.

Firefighter is a great citrus-y cologne scent. Almost like a grapefruit/APR torch wood scent. I love it. And Lonestar actually comes across to me like an almondy leather with emphasis on the leather. Very well rounded.

Next I’m trying to decide between Northern Elixir and Orbit.

Rawr is my favorite of the bunch.

Green and clean.

Funny how subjective all of this is. The Noir et Vanille and Lonestar are two of my all time favorite shaving soap scents.

Thé Noir et Vanille, with the listed notes of Bergamot, Loose Black Tea, Jasmine, Strawberry, Vanilla is elegant. I sense the jasmine and strawberry notes dancing in between the black tea and bergamot. Masterful. Reviewers have commented that this may be one of the best scents in all of shaving and I agree with them.

Lonestar is another superior scent. The way it is described by Noble Otter is perfect: "The sage in bloom is like perfume", that's where we started when we decided to make a new scent dedicated to the state of Texas. Lonestar is our vision of that scent. The olfactory experience starts with top notes of sage and lemon, followed by the heart notes of magnolia and Texas cedar. Finally, the base notes includes the truly Texas experience of oakmoss, leather and hay. With Lonestar, we can all be Texans at heart". I was won over starting with the sage in bloom. Magnificent.
