How aggressive is this on 9 compared to a fattip or a r41 (2013)

On 9 is this an aggressive razor like the aforementioned?

Also, is it best to store butterfly razors open when not in use or closed? Out of all my DE razors this is my first butterfly razor, kind of hard to believe.

It's aggressive, but it's certainly different than the R41. It can bite you if you don't have a no pressure technique, but it feels much more smooth to me than the R41. I regularly use my adjustables wide open. I say give it a try for 3 or 4 shaves. I got 3 or 4 good weepers the first time, but it didn't take long at all for my technique to adjust and those went away completely after only a few shaves.

I'd say start at 5 and move up. The biggest difference in the FB and the others is the shape of the head. It's a totally different feel from an R41. My guess is that if you start on 9 you'll end up with some irritation. You might not, but better to start at 5, see how it shaves, then move to 7 etc...

I could not agree with you more; aggressive and smooth is exactly what I would say after three shaves with this.  Have it on seven and a feather blade in it and BBS enjoyable smooth shaves. Pretty amazing piece of craftsmanship.  9 months of looking for the right price and condition was worth it, I love this thing.  Side note I've notice via your responses to my posts that you enjoy more aggressive razors also.  Do you have the ikon shavecraft tech?  I'm probably going to Eder this week and wanted some insight.  Thanks my man!

Glad you're enjoying the good ole' 195.  It's a great razor.  

No, I do not have the Tech.  While I would love to try it from a curiosity standpoint, I have made a decision to not purchase from iKon.  I ran across some communications between the proprietor of iKon and some of his customers that didn't sit well with me.  I'm trying to rationalize that it would be fine as long as I bought one used, but my conscience keeps overruling my RAD.  It's a personal decision on my part and in no way am I trying to discourage others from buying something they think they would enjoy.
