Good morning Matt
You are correct and I was aware of that but we named it Lemoncello on purpose because real Limoncello is an alcoholic beverage and I wasn’t adding any synthetic alcohol aroma chemicals in it so we wanted more of a straight Lemon with a little bit of creaminess but still bright. It does however show up more in the Skin Food Splash as I used both Lemon Vodka and real Limoncello in my infusion using Lemon rind and of course the Essential Oils along with all the other skin beneficial ingredients I always add. I’m honestly loving making my Splashes whenever possible doing infusions as they smell so much better. Another example is the Melange de Agrume. This new batch was also made with real Grapefruit Vodka infused with Ruby Red Grapefruit rinds and Ruby Red Grapefruit Oil I got from Italy that was made from the 2023 Grapefruit harvest and it’s the best I’ve ever smelled. I can’t wait for people to try it. Oh and Kailua was also an Infusion as Watermelon Mint is and is ready for production.
There may be times where I won’t be able to do an infusion for certain scents so I’ll use Organic Pure Sugar Cane Alcohol. An some of my soap maker friends think I’m crazy as both are a lot more expensive but I very much dislike SD 40 B alcohol which most use as they put an ingredients in it that are toxic like Ipecac syrup which can make a person sick to their stomach. Pyridine is also added which has an unpleasant odor which I have to fight to get rid of when using certain scents and I have to say I hate the smell of. An then there’s
Denatonium benzoate is added to give it a bad taste should one try to drink it.
I’ve also noticed that a plain Vodka besides having no smell doesn’t sting as much as the SD 40 B or any denatured alcohol I have tried and believe me I’ve tried a lot. I found a local store that gives me a little discount if I buy a lot and I feel better about using it for my customers and it’s much nicer to work with but it is more expensive as is the Pure Sugar Cane Alcohol.
Sorry for the long explanation but I want to be as up front with my customers as possible. Others can use what they want and these statements are not meant to put anyone else down as I’ve discussed this with some of my Soap
Maker colleagues and it’s simply a matter of choice and I respect theirs as I think they respect mine.
Best regards my friend
