Still debating whether to pull the trigger on the stand. For lack of better phrasing, the Essence "deserves" to be showcased. But I tend to dry and put away everything for fear of rust, and my bathroom's so crappy looking, it would look totally out of place.

It is surprising to not see India in the drop down list of countries this shavette can be shipped to. What's more surprising is to see Iraq there in the list. Not planning to buy at present though.. Just saying.

My bad. I realized after seeing PLANofMAN's comment that I completely misread your post. In another forum, there's a guy who keeps trying to be edgy and calling DE and SE razors as "blade holders". Anyway, my fault.

I think I may have said a while back that it's a shame these weren't packaged together. I could justify the cost as a package, and with the early bird discount. To buy just a stand with shipping from Switzerland ... that's a bit harder. The stand is a work of art, and it looks gorgeous with the razor. But do I need it? I'm likely to pass, but I've also been known to speak big on discipline and fold the next second. I'm so weak-willed.
For those who purchased the razor before the stand was available, I believe that the stand is available at the bundle price (minus the cost of the razor) by itself, which drops the cost of the stand quite a bit. You will need to reach out to Tedalus and confirm that though.

It was never meant to be sold by itself, and it was always considered to be an integral part of the razor 'experience.' He's had to blunder his way though the production process and self finance the razors and use the money from the razors to finance the stand. He really does want all Essence owners to have the stand if they want it, and he didn't want to punish early adopters who only got the razor.

I can confirm that the discounted offer is correct, for current owners of the razor.
I actually had no idea of the discount.
However, after placing my order, I DM'd Tedalus via ig to let him know, so that the rubber inlay could be included with the same shipment.
Before I even had the chance to tap 'send', I received a 'hello' message from him.

I carried on with my message, to which he replied..."yes, I saw that you just ordered, but you forgot about your 20% discount".

The difference was immediately refunded.

Quality razor and stand, along with quality customer service.

I was able to get a coupon and bought the stand.  Glad I did.  The stand has enough weight that it won't fall over easily.  When the razor is on the stand it looks like a modern work of art.  Doesn't take up a lot of space and is easy to attach the razor to the stand.  I justify the stand by saying:  it's like putting recaps on my Lexus when putting it in a chrome stand.  I have been using the Essence most of the time instead of my straights.  I really like the convenience of being able to change blades quickly.  I see very little difference when using the Essence over a straight.  Also, no stropping, honing or worrying about rust.  When I compare what I paid for some of my upscale straights, this is a bargain.

A bargain? Well, that's definitely a first. I can't tell you the amount of people I've come across who immediately shut down the idea of acquiring one, solely based on the cost.

Bear in mind that responses such as what I just referred to, are usually preceded by a mail call of 5 soap sets...to add to the 5 that were purchased last month...or even last week in some cases.

Strange mentality really.

Yeah. A good razor - pretty much every good razor - doesn’t cost very much really compared to an accumulation of shavng software that you will never get through, or compared to what people spend on other hobbies. The best of the best is relatively accessible in shaving, and those razors will give you pleasure forever.

When she complains about my hobbies I always tell my wife it could be far worse. I could have bought a Porsche or (even more expensive) had a mistress instead. And my wife is German so she believes a Porsche is a basic necessity, not a luxury - and of course it should be a turbo because why wouldn’t you get the fast one? So a few razors is nothing, really, for a poor man who doesn’t even have a Porsche.

The Tedalus is a very beautiful and desirable thing, by the way. It is nice that such things are made, whether we can buy them or not.

I tried using the code for previous owners on December 31, which was supposed to be the last day of validity for the code ... but it no longer worked. Posted reply to the announcement on Facebook, but no response. Definitely a beautiful stand, but I probably wouldn't use it much anyway, so disposable income has been saved for yet another unnecessary purchase down the road. Yay?

Yeah, I probably wouldn't use the term "bargain". Maybe "great value" is a better phrasing considering that it is pricey but a worthwhile purchase that most owners don't seem to regret.

I just bought a DE razor that costs $195.  Stainless steel and without question the best one I've used and I have used a lot.  If you want a premium engineered quality razor that will out last me and my children then you can justify the cost.  It's not for everyone just like a premium DE isn't for everyone.  When I look at all the straights I purchased over the years, all I had to do was sell 3 and it paid for this razor.  I will say I am using the Essence just about every day and the straights are in my razor display getting no love.
