Fat Friday January 15th SOTN

I must admit, this razor was designed very well. Props SlimGem are well deserved .

At first I was nervous trying to slide the blade in... after having visions of me slicing the end of my finger off, I reviewed the video and was off to the races. The blade was very secure with no issues whatsoever.

As described previously, this is a very loud razor but that didn’t bother me in the slightest. The angle is very simple to find and results in a comfortable albeit slightly mild shave. I think the 2-Dot might be the good sweet spot. Shave #2 coming tomorrow... we shall see if I agree my initial assessments with shave #2.

This is the Weck SE with a Gem blade loaded and waiting. Yes waiting for the handle to arrive. I have been using Shapeways 3D Printing out of Queens New York. They started production of the Weck SE (created by Roger) and after several days advised me they couldn't produce the head (second time this happened to me with Roger's designs) So I canceled the order but they only canceled the head and said the handle was in production with no issues. I then sent the design download to Xometry who had no problem making the head. Next week I should have the handle and able to epoxy it to the head.
I think the shave will be similar to the EndGem dot 2.

I will probably offer the EndGem dot 2 for sale as it is an excellent shaver.

Shaves 2 and 3 continued to be mild, pretty smooth, and loud lol. If I was going to use this razor regularly, I would definitely need a little more efficiency. I need extra passes for my coarse beard to get the closeness that I desire, however, this would be very good for someone with milder beard growth or a thinner beard. For good measure (and because I really like the razor), I did a finishing pass with my Dcosmetic 70 mamba for the win.

Again, overall design, fit, and finishing on the EndGem are superb. The very sharp Gem blade is held securely. I do love these Enders handles too . I use my vintage Enders with a schick injector blade often and thought it was the right call on the TNNSER .

I wouldn’t be against trying out a 2 dot or one of the other adjustable designs... I thought that I was downsizing . Oh well .

I’ll get the razor packed up today to hopefully go out tomorrow. Enjoy gents!

The is the Weck Gem fully assembled. I will do the first run in the morning. I have a feeling it will compare with the Dot 2 EndGem both created by Roger (thank you).

Great shave with the Weck Gem printed razor. It weighs a mere 11 grams but delivers a very smooth close shave. Hardly felt the blade but its there. I still had to keep the razor against my face and under the nose using ATG action. The head is very narrow so the razor is very nimble. Finally hardly any noise while shaving not like the EndGem.

Received the EndGem today and had my first shave tonight. First of all, I have to say that I really like the design of the head. It was a throwback to the wedge blade lather catchers. Similar to the lather catchers, I rested the entire top of the cap on my face and started shaving from that angle. The shave was very comfortable as the others noted, and it was a little on the loud side, which was a characteristic of the old lather catchers. Like the old lather catchers, I was able to complete almost an entire pass without rinsing the lather off. Although the shave was very comfortable, like the others, I really had to work hard at getting a close shave with the Dot 1, and at the end of three passes plus considerable touch up, it still fell short of a BBS. I will try later with a Feather FHS blade. Hopefully friction will keep it in place, and the fraction more width will push the edge of the blade out further.

Originally I had intended to do a shave off between the EndGem and TNNSER, but felt that it would not be a fair comparison. Maybe with a Dot 2, or the WeckGme version would be a better comparison.

Your experience echo's the others as well as me how the dot 1 shaves. Instead of sending out the EndGem dot 2 I might offer the Wenk Gem which equals the dot 2 but has a slimmer head. Let me know what you think about my idea. This is for all the testers as well as anybody else that wants to try Weck Gem.

Tonight I used a Feather FHS blade in the EndGem. Yes, it definitely shaved closer, however blade feel was significant, and in the end, I still could not get as close a shave as I normally would have with other razors. I might attempt once more with carbon steel blade before sending it back. I am glad that slantman is offering his WeckGem as a pass around, as it would be an excellent comparison.

EndGem Dot 2 gave me a wonderful shave this morning using a Gem PTFE blade. Under the nose ATG and Across The Grain is the only way to achieve closeness. The rest of the face and neck anything goes with great results. I am sure Dot 3 would be the ultimate but I have no plans to have one made.
