Different handles for tatara razors?

The Tatara handles have proprietary-shaped collars that couple with their heads.

And this is the reason I chose to avoid the Tatara.  Too bad too because it was a great shaver.  But the handle...not to my liking

The base plate is recessed for the handle to fit into it, which I can easily fix with a nylon washer...

My issue is that other handles are not screwing on to the thread after about half way up the threaded stem.

Sounds like they used a tapered thread. If you have a metric and SAE thread gage neither should line up exactly from tip to stem if it is tapered. You could also use a caliper to check the tip and stem, if they aren't the same diameter it is a tapered thread.

Please do NOT mix nor force threads

Only the Nodachi cap is designed to accept additional handles (putting the baseplate design to one side). The threading on the Masamune cap is a different length.

Or you have a Masamune top cap with the upper nonthreaded shank intended to pass through the handle’s smooth upper bore. This is exactly as a well trained engineer would spec for a strong, reliable interface but works against razor industry standard practice, making usage with standard handles of other manufacturers less than ideal.

I had the same issue with the Nodachi on the pass around. The threads from other handles were ok, but the post on the top cap was too long to allow the handle to contact the base plate.

It would be nice if Tatara produced different handle options. I love mine

Nav what handle are you currently using? I have both the Masamune and Nodachi and both handles. I started with the Masamune handle and later got the Nodachi handle. I have heard many people don’t like the Nodachi handle but I was surprised how much I like it. It is longer, thicker, and heavier than the Masamune handle, if that is to your liking.

I have also seen that Tatara makes a handle even shorter than the Masamune handle, but I have never used that one.

In general, I prefer to use the handles made by the head maker, but that is just my personal preference.

I have the full nodachi razor. Perhaps it is the older cap which doesn't accept other handles.

It's not that I dislike the nodachi handle, I love it actually! Looks awesome and feels brilliant as the weight distribution is perfect. The only issue is that the hefty, longer handle is causing some issue for my old wrist injury.

Of the same opinion but particularly so regarding Tatara where one id buying a concept as much as a razor
