I thought people would get a laugh out of this.

I mostly use new manufacture blades and my favorites are Lord Platinum, Nacets, and Rapira platinums.
I sometimes follow vintage blade auctions on ebay and never bid.  But I did about 6 months ago and won some Schick Platinums.
I kept them aside and then one day I decided to use one.  I put them in my razor and then started shaving.  It felt very solid and thick and actually felt dull but worked really, really, well.  I got a no irritation BBS shave and I thought that I should have used vintage blades a long time ago.  After the shave, as I was washing the blade I saw that it was actually two blades stuck together.  I had been shaving with double blades stuck together.
After a few months, I decided to get more Schick platinum blades and a few days ago, I used them.  I wasn't going to be stupid this time and wet the blade and tried to see if they were two blades stuck together but it was just one blade.
After 2 days of 3 pass no irritation BBS shaves, they came apart and were actually two blades.  LOL.

Today I used only one of the blades that came apart and got a really nice BBS shave with no burning.

Oh man, who would have thought it. Thanks for sharing.
I wonder how many other shaving stories, like that type, are out there?

When I was just starting out, I wanted to learn quicker how to face lather.
Well, I used to synthetic tuxedo brush for a few lathers that night. The next day I thought why is my face so sore. I learned the meaning of brush burn, lol

The other day, I used a new (to me) badger brush.  All went well, and the brush was wonderful.  Then, I placed the brush on the tile floor to take a picture of it for the “What SB did you use today?” thread.  When I did, I realized it wasn’t just a brush with badger hair in it!  It was an actual badger!!!

Big Grin Life is too short to do the right things all the time. Doing dumb things is the reason why our life is full of adventures and why men live shorter lives then women.

This one is really embarrassing.  When I was in Chicago with a friend in 2005, I told her I had wanted to try using a shave brush.  This was before I tried DE or SE razors so was still using a cartridge, a Gillette Mach 3, I believe.  We went into Marshall Field's (those were the days Smile) and I purchased a brush which I believe was a silvertip badger with a plain ivory colored handle.  Along with my purchase, I was given a few samples of shave cream, either Art of Shaving or Taylor of Old Bond Street; I no longer remember.  When I got home, I was excited to try my new brush.  I squeezed the sample of shave cream into a bowl and whipped it up with my brush.  I applied it to my face and thought how much thicker it felt than the canned gel I was used to.  Then, I started to shave and the three blade system of the razor immediately clogged with the cream.  That's it, I thought, never again.  That is until I discovered shave sites and noticed that I had to add water to the cream!  I felt like a complete fool but, hey, lesson learned and it's been down the wet shaving rabbit hole ever since. Big Grin  It just goes to show that even the most basic things in wet shaving have to be learned.

That was probably the inspiration for multi blade cartridges. Gillette employee accidentally gets a great shave from two blades stuck together snd the light bulb went off.

I actually double stack blades in my GE Jones Shake Sharp razor so that it's as thick as the old blades that would have been used in it and get great shaves so maybe you're not as stupid as you think. LOL
