+4, except that I skip the extra witch hazel (since many of my aftershaves contain it).

I usually do 3 passes with a rinse and re-lather between each pass. If I need a formal touchup, I lather from my palm so I can feel everything. If I don't need a formal touchup, than residual slickness and a splash of warm water is usually enough to buff a couple of spots clean.

After my final pass/touchup, I rinse all the soap off my head using warm water. Then it is cold water rinse/alum/cold water rinse/witch hazel/cold water rinse/aftershave splash.

I live in the desert and it is really dry all year 'round, and since I really enjoy the bite of an alcohol splash, I sometimes have to use a balm to moisturize after the splash has fully dried down and settled...

In the colder months I tend to do this more often as the skin dries out. If u want some alcohol buy some dickensons witch hazel and splash it on after the cold water rinse. Then the balm. Hope this helps.

Agreed, cold water rinse and then a balm or AS. Recently I have been keeping my Clubman in the fridge. Nice cold splash with it being so hot out.

Hot water shave and hot water rinse with warm/hot facecloth. Leaves my pores open so the moisturizer I use works best. YMMV, as always.

I have extremely dry skin.  I'm not even one of those people that can use only an aftershave splash.  Typically I use hot water to get the soap off, cold water to cool my face and close pores.  Then I use some witch hazel and an aftershave  or an aftershave balm, whichever I'm feeling that day.  Finally, I use a moisturizer so my face doesn't dry out.

Sounds like Patrick Bateman from American Psycho huh?

"In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. "
