Let me start by stating I certainly did not need another soap but I have been wanting to try Olivia AND a rose soap and when CRSW offered a holiday half off sale I jumped. Glad I did. Shipping was quick and the package was perfect. Inside I found a thank you card which was a very nice touch.

Packaging and presentation is awesome. The soap is in a gun metal grey tin with a screw on lid. Labeling is waterproof and the design lends a classic feel. The soap inside is cream colored and floor flat, very pleasing to my eye.

I chose a Jagger razor loaded with an Astra SP blade and used a Plisson synthetic brush. This is the crew I always choose when evaluating a new soap because I know how they work together.

I seldom bloom a soap so did not with this one either. Loaded for about 30 seconds with a pretty dry brush and went to face lathering. Added a bit of water a couple of times and BOOM, was rewarded with a brush full of lather. Kept working it until I got that super shiny and ropey lather that I like from soaps but was surprised to find I could achieve with an olive oil soap.

First pass was uneventful and compared favorably to other top shelf soaps I use. (When a sharp blade is on my face, uneventful is very good.) a quick rinse revealed residual slickness on par with what I enjoy.

2nd pass was a pleasure too and as expected after the rinse was even slicker. (I like to add water to my face before relathering to thin out the soap for subsequent passes and this soap responded predictably).

3rd pass was again very predictable and the cream remained stable throughout. I love a soap that leaves enough slickness after a third pass to use waterfor touch ups and this soap did that but I was surprised to find no touch ups were necessary. Granted, I am more methodical when shaving with a new soap, thus expect a better result but that said, this soap seemed to facilitate a remarkably close shave. (I don't chase BBS).

Performance of this olive oil soap was excellent. I don't know how he does it but he has made an olive oil soap equal in stability and ease-of-use as my bellwether AOS tallow.

Scent strength is right up there leaning on the high medium side. I discovered I will not be a rose soap guy but the scent was neither unpleasant nor cloying. I was also impressed with the depth and subtleties going on. Who knows, perhaps it'll grow on me and turn me into a rose guy? That said, scent is subjective and I will guess that if you are a rose guy, you will really enjoy this one.

Performance was nothing short of awesome. I like slick soaps and although some I have are slicker, this one leaves me wanting for nothing. cushion, although not that important to me, is very nice. And whether it was blind luck or not rewarded me with the best shave of the week. Looking forward to seeing how it works with a straight this weekend.

This was my first CRSW soap but it won't be my last. Looking forward to getting a tin of v2. That said, I was and am very dumbfounded that he can take olive oil, which in my experience has not made for a stable creamy lather, and make a soap to stand with any soap anywhere is just amazing. I have many top shelf soaps in my den and this one compares favorably with them.

I own several CRSW soaps and love them all. One of the best out there.
