For our "errand day" breakfast today, my wife made her excellent cinnamon buns.

Here is a link to the basic recipe, which she modified.

As she said, "I didn't follow this exactly. Didn't really measure. Added waaaay more sugar to the dough than the 4T it called for. I added it and tasted to make sure it was sweet enough. I probably used more than called for of things like cinnamon, etc. Oh, and I also added walnuts. I did not roll out, but just dropped large spoonfuls onto baking sheet. And took them out when they looked done. They would probably turn out a lot better if you actually followed the recipe and rolled them out."

Thank you sir. I do the same thing with recipes. I call it making it my own.

If you like Cinnamon Buns, then you really should try "Grand-Pères".
They're basically just dumplings simmered in maple syrup.  Character

Eat them with a spoon while still hot, and throw on an optional scoop of vanilla ice cream.
So evil.  Evilgrin

What the heck!  I’m half French Canadian going back 375 years and born in Montreal and not only have I never eaten those, I’ve never even heard of it. Now I have to have them. Those must be a recent culinary innovation like poutine. I love all things maple syrup but growing up we never had it because it was too expensive. There’s no way my mother would have used so much maple syrup in this way. Now that I can afford pure maple syrup I won’t eat anything else but I still respect it like it was liquid gold.
