Chittenango Creek has been a long time coming.  A relative of mine volunteers for a group called “Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing”.  As stated on their website, they are “dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.”

When I learned about the project from Ted, I was inspired to help through Talbot Shaving.  We sat and discussed options, and sought to create something that would reflect the feeling of fishing Chittenango Creek.  A dollar from each jar sold during this preorder will go to the Syracuse branch of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.

Let’s start with the scent.

Aquatic notes comprise the foundation of the scent.  For those who have used Governors Island, this one should feel familiar.  A fine mist sprays off of the waterfall not far from where the flies dance.
A little wet earth on the riverbank gives way to lavender, a nod to the region’s active lavender farms.
Cedar is the final note here.  It is used when storing flies to keep them dry and prevent insects from destroying them while stored.

The label artwork inspiration was drawn from my seven year old.  Black and yellow represent the colors of the veteran PTSD ribbon.

In addition to the soap and matching aftershave from Maol Grooming, there will be two options for matching brushes.

Brett from Mozingo Brushworks has created a stunningly beautiful handle in the black and yellow for veteran PTSD support.  The link to his Etsy page is: https://etsy.me/2nA7ITa

Andriy from Lancaster Razor Works has created a brush to pay tribute to the fly fishing side of the project.  The handle offers a clear resin with a fly suspended inside.  The link to his Etsy page is: https://etsy.me/2Lznbgv

Both of these fantastic brushmakers are offering their brushes in coordination of this release.  I’m honored to have had them say they would love to help on this project.  Brushes will be available from their websites posted above.  They will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Syracuse branch of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.

I hope you enjoy Chittenango Creek as much as I’ve enjoyed being part of creating it.

Tomorrow I’ll post information on Grace, which will also be available alongside Chittenango Creek.

The one week preorder period begins at West Coast Shaving on Wednesday, July 24th at 12 noon Eastern Time, and runs until July 31st at 12 noon Eastern Time.  There will be no limits on orders.  You can purchase soap, splash or both.

***International News*** For those who would like a matching splash, but live outside of the US, Top of the Chain will have a limited number of splashes available.  So you can buy the soap from West Coast Shaving and still be able to obtain a matching splash if you are so inclined.

Thank you very much.  I felt it was time for a change.  Letting the kids be part of it allows for some very creative possibilities!
