I love gyros! Did you by any chance write down or photograph the recipe?

FWIW, Ginos uses rib eye also.

Gyro and souvlaki, both sandwiches were given to the planet by the archangel Gabriel. Alas, I can't eat those anymore either unless of course I cook them myself.

I found the recipe on TripAdvisor for the restaurant.

Was their sauce something special or was it tzatziki sauce which would be traditional.

It was a white sauce but not the traditional Tzatziki. It was sweeter. I’ll have to search for the recipe. Ah, found it. No yogurt. Instead they used mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar and dill. They were at the same location for 45 years. And I can say I’ve never had a better gyro.

Can you post the recipe?

I love gyro and souvlaki. There was a stand up eatery at the Willowbrook mall near where I lived decades ago. Anyway, the eatery was called The Acropolis. We couldn't go in there and not get a sandwich. Delicious stuff. My wife told me that the meat in the souvlaki was lamb but not to my taste buds and I definitely know and love lamb. Then many years later I had goat for the first time... BINGO! The meat was goat. She won't believe me.

Not to change the subject, but across the highway there was a bowling alley with connected eatery. The best steak sandwiches and pizza. Maybe it's still there, maybe not. But decades ago it had really good food and draft beer and frozen mugs.

We have a fairly new place in Jamestown, NY that is supposed to be authentic Philly Cheese Steak. The owner is originally from Philadelphia. I don't know how authentic they are, but they taste incredible! Definitely something new for our area. Just a small mom&pop restaurant.

Gyros! I used to love gyros! I don't think there's anyplace around here anymore with real, good gyros.

I understand what some are saying about diet/getting older, etc. A year and a half ago my doc said, "So, do I prescribe meds to try and get your BP, cholesterol, and sugar under control? Or, do you want to wait until after your 1st heart attack?" What a slap of reality! So, no, I don't eat like this all of the time.(anymore)
