I basically asked Shawn to have some fun- will dial back on the emollients for sure [cut glycerin and reduce WH]. I believe it will be some of Shawn's existing favorites as well as possibly some of the future releases.

I like the scents of what I have sampled enough that free reign rules!

Sounds great - I know you found a little too much conditioning for your climate, you're smart to leave his scents alone. I wouldn't mess with any of them.

Marko I just tried Dark Limes recently. It was a really small sample, so I shouldn't comment on the performance too much, but that scent was really quite nice. I was super impressed. I would imagine the Dark Lavender would probably be pretty great, too. They are on my list once I get the urge to buy again. There are still new faces in the rotation who I haven't got to know as well as I would like.

Also, kwsher is getting a different formulation that should be a little bit more attuned with his skin type. No glycerin and less witch hazel. I made it up last night and the menthol crystals are dissolving as we speak.

Hello all, today we are introducing our newest scent: La Quatrième Ville. It is a departure from our past offerings: woody and rich, but a dry richness in lieu of a sweet one. It is a classically masculine scent, and one that is versatile in its pairing with various soaps, creams and colognes. It is available now at ChatillonLux.com

Here's how we describe it:

[Image: 800px-Louisiana_Purchase_Exposition_St._...ormat=750w]

At the advent of the 20th century, Saint Louis was known as the Fourth City. As they prepared to host the 1904 World's Fair, an explosion of arts, culture and commerce took place. Coincidentally, in what was to become Forest Park and Washington University in St. Louis, the Summer Olympics took place that year, as well.

The smell of La Quatrième Ville seeks to recapture that time of refined character and ambitiousness. A refined, masculine smell brings back the bustle of Forest Park during the World's Fair: the woods, attractions and waterfronts are reflected in the vetiver, cypress, incense, nagarmotha, violet leaf, benzoin, and cardamom.

Shawn, what a great roll out! I've been waiting to get a bottle of toner and salve since you sent me a sample of the aftershave. Its a truly inspired scent. Thanks,
Marko

Thanks, Marko, while it's not our most complex scent, it might be the one that I feel I could really hang my hat on. The versatility to be paired with many different scents is nice, too, so I can have a good recommendation for someone who wants a daily driver.

I'm a simple guy when it comes to scent pairings - do you have any recommended pairings for Quatrieme Ville?

I just used it with Barrister & Mann's Vetyver Santal today and loved it. Need to post that picture. I've used it with Mickey Lee Soapworks' Rèunion and that one was really great. Wholly Kaw's Vetivertal would be good for the vetiver and incense notes. I also think it would be great with most any earthy or woody fougère. It did well with Caties Bubbles La Terre Verte when I used it with that, as well. Valobra Patchouly was a nice pairing, as well. Stirling's Port Au Prince and Jabonman/Eufros Vetiver de Haiti would be excellent pairings because one of the vetivers I use is Haitian, and that is a very distinctive vetiver. Oh, and First Canadian's Hot Summer Lavender or Grand Valley Vetiver would be good if you want to keep it up on your side of the border.

Really, most anything woody, mossy and green will probably be nice.
