I was of the understanding that Brian slightly tweaked the design of the new lvl 3 baseplates. I used to have a gen 1 lvl 3 that I sold after two shaves because it left me with Razor Burn. I remember reading somewhere that Brian had tweaked the new level 3 baseplates because he used to get Razor Burn with the old lvl 3’s as well. I would love to try a new lvl 3 someday to see if I could get better shaves out of it. I’m still hoping he’ll re-release the OC’s again, my old lvl 2 OC was a great shaver.

Yes Brian changed the level 3 from 1st to 2nd gen to increase smoothness and decrease irritation as he could not use the level three for multiple shaves in a row.  When I first got mine I emailed him how I was now able to use the level 3 for many shaves in a row without problems and still had the same long lasting shave.  He said that was his goal. He should be releasing a new 2nd gen level one shortly.

That’s good to know. A Copper lvl 3 SB with Magnum Handle has been calling to me  Rolleyes.

I asked Brian if we can expect a Level 4 at some point. He said that he hasn’t had enough time for R&D on new stuff but it is something that he wants to make.

Interesting question. I still don't think Brian can improve on the Gen 1 Level 3, but what do I know?

Got my Vertigo SS in, that makes one in each metal. I really really like the weight and balance on the vertigo.

After many a shaves, I find my Gen 2 SS slightly more aggressive than Gen 2 Copper. Not sure if it’s a material or handle weight/size difference.

I found the same with my Lv2 & Lv3 SS versus brass. Brian says the material makes no difference though. Both brass and SS are great though.
