Cella

Well gents, I'm finally going to have my first shave with:




There has been much talk, but even after all these years wet shaving, today will be my first kick at this can.  I can't wait.  I'll be following up with their aftershave too.


What do you think?  Will I like it or hate it?

The scent... there's no way around it. Love it or hate it. I love it. The subtle hint of cherry leaves by the time it hits your face, but if you like almond, nom, nom!

The lather was a little harder to make than I thought it would be. Nothing serious or anything, and when it produced, it produced. The glide was ok.

The aftershave balm smells nothing like the soap. It's pure clean, and very "soapy" smelling. Overall, my face feels great if not a little dry.


This is only my first shave with the coveted Cella, so there has to be follow up, but as it stands now, it's ok.

I remember liking it's scent and the performance. I wish you a nice shave with the Cella. May it treat you nicely.

IIRC the soap and lather were ok. Nothing stellar, but decent. I just didn't resonate with the almond scent. You may.

I understand from some scuttle on DFS that they have changed (or added?) something to the formula to keep it from going bad, but i usually only give a soap maker one chance to get it right and then I move on.

What do you mean when you say it went "bad" Hardtop? Can soap even go bad?

I had no idea that the recipe had changed. Like I said, I'll need to shave with it again before making any conclusions, but using Cella for the first time after a HASLINGER shave could almost be considered unfair.

It was alright but for Italian Almond soaps there are much better ones out there. I don't like the fact that the soap turns bad so easily.

It is not unusual for soaps to change colour over time.  My Cella turned a dark yellow and the scent went from a bright almond to old greasy apples.  It is one thing for the scent to fade and the colour change, but when the scent changes and the colour, you have a problem.

A common issue with Cella up to three years ago, but I understand this has been resolved.

Lathering from the puck for hard soaps is rarely a problem ( triple milled), croaps can be a different animal altogether. Best to scrape croaps, or dry the crap out of them before putting the lid on.
