I recently had shoulder surgery and been using a Gillette skin guard cart razor....still lathering up with artisan soaps ect...
however, I’ve been having excellent shaves LOL

Now there's Traditional and Modern. Since your using a modern razor with traditional brush and bowl lathering, maybe you can call it Hybrid wet shaving?
I don't know. You could also call it "I just had surgery, don't judge me wet shaving"... But that's quite a long name. Lol!
Hope recovery goes well. Good luck!

Haha!
Or “”whatever works for you””
I had an amazing shave this morning again with the skin guard, lathered up with some MWF.
Skin feels so smooth and silky.

I think YES, when I use all the technique acquired in this years of wetshaving.
A person who buy a classic razor is not a wetshaver.
A wetshaver can use properly even a W&D modern shaver.

What does technique have to do with shaving with a cart? I would say absolutely none as it is a mindless shave to say the least and takes absolutely no technique at all!!

Preshave; traditional lathering; Multiple passes; grain mapping; multi directional; light touch; buffing; etc.
I haven't used a multi-blade razor in years, but I'd imagine some (most?) of it would translate into a boon for your shave, regardless of the actual tool.
But, I don't think anyone here is saying, "let's all use 5-blade carts now".

Most men use hi-tech cartridge razors ... and have shaving issues.
AND ... cartriges are not all equal.
