I must admit when I am wrong. After reading Shanes post, who I respect, I have sent an email asking to cancel my order.

I respect Shane a lot as well and admire how he runs his company. I appreciate him weighing in on this topic since he knows more about making razors than any of us.

Shavemd, I don’t quite get why you would cancel your order. I get that you respect Shane’s opinion regarding razor manufacturing etc. but if this razor was worth trying before he commented, why is it not worth trying now?

I am not trying to be argumentative or disrespectful with the question. You mentioned having to admit being wrong. What do you feel you were wrong about by purchasing this razor?

The return policy is only for manufacturers defects, if I try this razor and do not like the shave I get, the resale value will be next to nothing. I really enjoy trying new razors as my hobby. I have a core group of razors I love to shave with, and I give a new razor a few weeks of shaves to knock out one of the ones in my collection. I usually sell the one that doesn’t make it for a fair price, but based on it already being significantly overpriced it’s not worth trying and taking a significant loss. Maybe after seeing what’s being written Carbon Shaving Co will re-evaluate their pricing. I do like to support small business but when someone with the knowledge of designing and manufacturing high quality razors, like Shane , says it is price gouging it’s time for me to walk away and wait for the next toy to pop up. Hopefully in a week or so I will have a Janus prototype to compare against my collection, I know another controversial razor, but this one is just for a trial run.

FWIW, I agree with Shane as well, except for the price gouging part. It's not price gouging. Don't want it, don't buy it. Gouging only applies to essential supplies needed for living, IMO. Despite what some here may think, premium razors aren't a necessity. I know we've gone round and round about what constitutes gouging before, but this is my opinion on it.

Thanks for the reply.

I have seen the Reddit thread on this razor and I disagree with the suggestion of getting this razor into the hands of the more popular Youtube shave reviewers. For one, these products are too subjective and too open to interpretation on how they "work". I also have gotten to the point where I don't trust anyone to give an honest assessment of anything anymore because I don't know what is in it for them. Thats the cop in me speaking out but I do like companies that offer a "trial" period of sorts.

To me, it looks like they have a 30-day return policy that does NOT depend on defects: (from their site)

"Returns
We strive to create a great product, however we understand that you might not be happy. Our policy lasts 30 days. "

After that it discusses the logistics of a return. Am I missing extra stipulations elsewhere?

I might be mis reading but this is what I saw on their return policy
All refunds are in Carbon Shaving Co. sole discretion. If you are approved, after inspecting the product return, then your refund will be processed,

I took that to mean they've inspected to ensure it's in like-new condition. But I do see how it's ambiguous there.

The head looks interesting. But, I really dislike the look of the handle. If they had another option it might be tempting to give it a try. Just can't get over the handle.
