Cambell Latherking latherizer

How is everyone here. I just purchased a vintage LatherKing Lather machine. My boss has the same kind but he has a metal handle on his.....can anyone tell me if that was an accessory back then or does anyone know how I can get one or anything. Cool machine. Can you explain its operation? I assume it was used in barbershops and produced lather (warm?) on demand. What sort of soap do you load into it? Have you tried running yours yet?

Thank you for the reply, it is a hot Lather machine and it is used in barber shops. This piece is from the 50’s. How it operates:
1. Take pre shave cream and mix with water*
2. Pour mixed ingredients into the basin
3. Plug up unit and it will automatically heat everything up
4. Push button down and hold , hot ( not scalding, Lather will come out
5. Release button when desired amount of Lather is achieved
* you can use any brand of pre shave cream

That is so cool. I remember those when I was a boy and living in Brooklyn. Every barbershop had one and I remember how good the lather felt on the back of my neck.

I googled it and they're still made! Not like the 1950s model but more plastic parts but the operation appears similar. I have to check out what my barber uses because he does produce warm lather when he cleans up around the back and sides. Its always behind me when he gets it. Maybe its in the cabinet next to the scotch?

My barber uses one of these. His looks more like 1950's vintage than something more current. The warm lather really does feel nice. He still uses a real straight razor as well.

The cleanup around the ears, and the back of the neck with the straight, and the warm lather was the best part of getting a haircut. Most barbers now just use electric clippers to clean things up due to health regulations, and the fact that they never learned to use a straight.
