Yes I did shave with a soap and it is wonderful cushion slickness and lather

My site inventory counter goes into "UH OH!" mode when a product is almost out of stock to help prevent overselling- Having said that I do still have a few jars of it available that I just added this morning.

I bought it from THBS. A good soap, not 'great'. I think the asking price is fair since it's a very hard soap and something I'm glad to have tried, but not a must keep.

Lather is dense and thick. Slickness is medium/low. Decent water tolerance. Scent's light citrus floral? Post shave is very good, however. I haven't gotten a chance to really dial it in, however so take my initial impressions with some salt.

Gripes: It takes a bit longer then normal to load due to it's hardness/density. It initially comes with a deep impression of a honeycomb, while a neat point, i found that it over-aerates the soap and it becomes foamy when loading; I had to crush down the impression to make it more manageable.
Everything is always a case of YMMV. I agree with you that the soap does have a light scent but I had no problem making a creamy lather from the get go with a synthetic or a silver tip. Everybody has different techniques and also different type of water so this definitely adds into the equation. I found my slickness to be excellent. Just to be clear I'm not getting a penny or anything free from this I'm sharing from my heart

Thank you. There was NO mention of shaving with it in your original post, which is why I questioned it.

I've seen reviews left on soap based on a test lather and wasn't sure if that was the case this time.

rawfox1, I don't think anyone here was questioning your integrity at all.  Rather, I think some folks, and I must include myself here, are rather suspicious of a review where the person has been compensated for it.  The one review posted here seemed to be one of those.  I am certainly curious about the soap because of what you have written and shall see if my local Whole Foods carries it.  Thanks for the introduction to it. Whereas I see it the opposite. If people see bloggers praising products and giving positive feedback....they are more likely to get more free products from other artisans.

Once again Bruce, you've made me see another angle of a debate that I was not seeing before. Maybe because I'm not a blogger that receives free stuff for review...

I looked at the ingredients in Sweet Comb Chicago and saw Sorbitol and Sorbitan Oleate listed in both the shaving soap and bath soap which, are both nearly the same recipe. Those two ingredients are typically found in Melt & Pour bases which has me thinking that may be the case with the Sweet Comb soaps. I found a couple M&P bases at Brambleberry that have the exact same ingredients in the same order, but Sweet Comb has several more ingredients at the end. It may be that the soap maker is using a M&P base and then adding several more ingredients to enhance the soap and make it unique. This doesn't take away from the quality of the soap, and maybe I'm wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.

After watching the video, I think I can add even more water to make it slicker and more creamy.

I know the soap is water tolerant but I never really got a chance to dial it in. It seems to me that this may be another water happy soap ala BM original formula.

I will test and report back.... after monday.

Thought the bar was last week. o.O Regardless, good luck!

Since there seems to be some interest in their soap, why not invite them to drop by here?
