December 1 Update:

The first shipment of Morris & Forndran shaving brushes arrived this morning from the U.K.! Invoices have been sent and these brushes will be winging their way to their new homes just as soon as payment's received.

As of last night, we have 46 more handles to turn and ship to M&F. That's down from close to 200 in October; so yeah, we've been busy Smile Many of the remaining handles are of the complex multi-resin varieties; so the going is slower--roughly three-four handles/day vs. seven-eight/day for the single resin flavors.

For those receiving partial orders and for those of you who are still waiting, know that we appreciate your patience and are doing everything we can to get your brushes to you as quickly as possible!

And for you who're waiting to place new orders, we thank you as well. We think we're still on track to re-open the Order Book by about the 16th/17th of the month. In that regard, we plan to email everyone on our notification list a couple days in advance.

Now back to work!

Those are absolutely gorgeous. It is so nice to see some Morris and Forndrans come out with a variety of colors with your turns. All of those are absolutely stunning Brad. Very very nice work. In particular, I love the first two from the left, and the third brush from the right.

I'm glad you appreciate them. Smile The furthest on the left is a 3XL (Moonjava,30mm Blonde Fan.) The second from the Left is a 2XL (Lapis Lazuli with a Disco Haze belt, 28mm Finest Fan.) And the third from the right is a 2XL (Disco Haze, 28mm Finest Fan).

Brad,

Thank you so much for the information. The Lapis Lazuli with the Disco belt is killer, so is your disco haze, which looks different than I'm used to. You've done an outstanding job with those brushes, they look absolutely stunning.

Now let me ask you a question if you don't mind answering. There are some inconsistencies in the past with Lee's knots. For instance, some folks think a finest is blonde and blonde is finest and so forth. My experience in bringing this up is I have two brushes from Lee, that have WILDLY different hair. One is a short lofted finest and the other is a higher lofted blonde. The Blonde has very soft hair but the finest is probably the scrubbiest brush I've ever owned and that includes boar hair. My question to you is, what is the difference in blonde and finest hair, with the knots you have been putting into these brushes? I'm thinking I'd like blonde just because my experience shows it to be a softer tipped hair, but who knows what the latest Lee hair is like in these current knots.

Any price tags either as far as 30mm, 28mm type knots and differences in price between blonde/finest hair?

Brad I know this is a mouthful and if you'd like to email or PM me just let me know. Might be something good for the forum to see here though.

I don't understand the difference either between his Blonde and Finest either. Have seen differing opinions on which is which.

In terms of Simpson's.
I have their Manchurian and two band Silvertip.

Understanding that aren't the same, how are the M&F knots on that spectrum?

Beautiful brushes!
Shave yourself.

Thanks for your very kind words. Yes, the Lapis/Disco combination is rather stunning. Smile

You've asked excellent questions, which deserve a public answer. I wish I had more history with Lee's knots, but from what I've handled over the past six months, both are very dense knots; the Blonde is a more distinct 2-band hair with whiter tips that are slightly softer and tend to develop "hooks" whereas the Finest (also a 2-band) doesn't have the really white tips, has slightly more "scritch" and a little less backbone than the Blonde. Lee tells me they both come from the same animal; so there's not supposed to be a lot of difference. Obviously, my experience is different from yours. I'll run your remarks by Lee and share the results with the group.

Saying that, my suspicion is that you might have gotten your brushes at different times and, assuming that's correct, each animal/batch of hair can vary. Anything I might offer beyond that would be pure speculation--and I might have already gone too far in that direction.

Anyway, you can see the current prices here. At present, both Finest and Blonde are available at the same price. There is a possibility that we'll be able to offer some other hair in the future, but that will depend on what Lee receives from his broker in China.

One caveat: we're in negotiation with another carrier in hopes of speeding the 2-way transatlantic shipping while (again hopefully!) increasing security. But like all things, this shipper is expensive. My cost accountant wife is looking into ways to control some of that cost, but right now it looks like we'll probably need to pass some of that increase along. We hope to know more before we re-open for new orders.

I hope this answers your questions.

Brad,

Thank you for the informative response. That helps out quite a bit and makes me think that a blonde fan would be my top choice, probably in a 28mm. Keep up the great work sir.

The pricing information was edifying as well sir.
