I second glazedboker about the Sabre being the best modern Gem razor, although for a more than three days growth I'd use the SE-G, albeit with a few cuts. IMHO the Sabre is a better shaver than the OB as I have a first generation Genesis which is not as smooth as the Sabre or as efficient.

This razor is a "reward" for me. I've been saving since December for a high-quality SS razor in anticipation of passing a major exam for my profession. The results came in a few weeks ago and I (luckily) passed. Can't wait to get this razor in the rotation!

The Sabre arrived yesterday afternoon and I have to say...it's simply beautiful!

I do have a quick question though because this wonderful little razor did a number on my neck this morning...many cuts and nicks. Now, I'm certain this was due to user-error. Initially, I tried using it the same way I use my bullet-tip - I start with the top cap on my skin and lift up slightly. Then I apply only slight pressure. With the bullet-tip, it works great (at least for me). By the 3rd pass with the Sabre, I had switched to my MMOC method which is to ride the top cap along my skin and apply more pressure than I do other razors (again, works great for me). My next shave I will try my MMOC method for the whole shave and see how it goes. But anyone using the Sabre consistently, if you have some tips, they'd be greatly appreciated. I absolutely love the look and feel of this razor...I just need to find the right technique so i'm not bleeding out

Oh no! I typically recommend starting with the top cap basically flush with the skin. The once you get a feel for the razor you can play with the angle. I don’t particularly focus on angle with the Sabre anymore.

First off congrats!
What blade are you using? If it's not the PTFE then that could be your problem. Also I saw no mention of what baseplate. L1 or L2? I find it very easy to shave with and I've honestly never nicked myself with either baseplate so just for the heck of it check your blade alignment also if it's off or you didn't load the blade exactly perfect it would easily nick you as any razor would.

Keep at it and great shaves are in you're future with the Sabre.

Used the Sabre with the L1 base plate and a 2nd use PTFE this morning. The shave was significantly better...no nicks or cuts or scrapes. Today, I kept the top cap as flat as I could and would only give a very slight angle when there was no feedback. I really went slow and kept the strokes short as well. A three pass shave with several touch-up passes and I have a DFS. The alum block "sting" lasted for about 20 seconds so I may still be using too much pressure.

I have found with gem blades it takes 2-3 shaves before the blade starts to give its best shaves. I did find stropping it in my palm before it’s first use helped. Just my 2 cents worth

Let me give you guys another purchase idea -> a dedicated strop for GEM blades!!
