Today It's been exactly a month since I received my Blackbird. All this month I shaved only with this razor, changing blades and soap for shaving.
As a result, I came to the following conclusion.
The most clean and comfortable shaving of this razor is achieved with the blade of the Personna coming in the kit, as well as with the Polysilver Iridium blade.
And with soap from Martin de Cander.
Shane created a great razor !!!
My Top now looks like this
1. BBS-1
2. Blackbird and Wolfman
3. Rockwell

Polished Blackbirds will be available this Saturday 6/24 at 12pm noon ET along with the new machined finish Sabre GEM razor. I know many of you have been waiting for a chance to get a polished Blackbird so this is your opportunity. Smile

My ATT Gem razor still hasn't shipped out yet. I showed my wife this and her response was.....

I'm gonna try getting her drunk and asking her again, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Those production delays are exactly why I've decided to abstain from pre-orders with the Sabre (and hopefully all products). I've learned my lesson from plenty of unpredictable setbacks.

I have my alarm clock on my cell set for 11:55 am..... I'm not going to be beat on this one. Really looking forward to a shave with a modern day Gem razor. In S/S to boot.....

Ordered a Sabre and am sooooooooo tempted to get a Blackbird in mirrored finish.

How do the other finishes work? Is the machined finish as slick? How about the black. Is it as slick?

You'll probably find that this is a can of worms with opinions on the performance differences between the finishes. My own personal experience shows no discernible difference in performance.

The Black Oxide finish has a more pronounced drag than the Machine finish. The Polished version is the slickest because of the finish, naturally.
For me, the Polished is the smoothest shaver of the three, but I am slowly acclimating myself to the Machine version. However, I have to concentrate more and go much more slowly than when using the Polished. Unfortunately, I could not get on with the Black Oxide, but I would really like to revisit it, again, to give it another go. Shy

Now I'm itching to buy a Blackland razor. I almost don't care which one. Any of them!

Somebody talk me down off of the ledge!
